Through a strengths-based,  family-centered therapeutic approach, I strive to provide a safe and warm environment where we can explore the barriers and frustrations of family life.
Being a parent, or caregiver, is no small thing.  There are so many challenges now-a-days.  The child mental health crisis has grown, and with it, the family mental health crisis, which means treatment must include the family as a whole.  My role as a therapist is to assist your child and family as a whole in working towards your goals by offering a supportive and safe space, and providing the opportunity for growth as a family.

Are you a compassionate person or helping professional who wants better boundaries? Struggling in a difficult marriage, family, or workplace situation? Recovering from a toxic relationship and want to make sure it never happens again? Let's talk! I'd love to chat and see if we'd be a good fit.
Are you tired of feeling guilty, selfish, or mean every time you try to set a boundary? Ready to kiss people-pleasing, codependency, and toxic relationships goodbye? I help compassionate people discover how to set boundaries. Sometimes called "people-pleasers" or "co-dependents," I believe the real problem is one of boundaries... As in, we need to know how to find them! I've found that loving empathic people can THRIVE once we discover our boundaries (in a way that works for our compassionate hearts). Many of my clients are fellow counselors and psychologists, medical professionals, teachers, social workers, all with big hearts.

My treatment approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems Therapy, which allows me to conceptualize client concerns through a systems-based framework.
I warmly welcome individuals of all ages—children, teens, and adults—who are interested in addressing issues related to anxiety, shame, self-esteem, and stress. It can be overwhelming to create change while navigating life all on your own. Through compassion, exploration, and perseverance, we can collaboratively forge a path toward the mental balance that I adamantly believe you deserve. In addition to supporting those dealing with anxiety and self-esteem challenges, I also specialize in helping individuals navigate major life transitions and education/learning concerns.

During that call, I will learn a bit about your family.
Parenting is the hardest job. You've dong everything you can think of to support your kids. And still they struggle. You’re doing whatever you can think of. You’ve sat with teachers, talked with doctors, argued long into the night. Nothing has helped. You’re to the point where you just want to quit. And you feel terrible about it. I get it. I've been there. Your temper is short, you feel grouchy all the time, and time spent at the office feels like a vacation. This was not in the job description.

I provide individual, family and group therapy, with particular expertise in the areas of emotional reactivity, challenging relationships, trauma recovery and workplace stress/burnout.
At times the hurt, anger, anxiety or confusion brought on by life's challenges leaves us stuck or acting ineffectively, unable to determine our best next steps. During these times it can useful to have a guide, someone to help us identify our options, discover opportunities, provide tools for overcoming obstacles, and offer support as we heal and grow. This is my role as a therapist.

I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups. My current focus is primarily on people dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, attachment, life transitions, trauma, family and other interpersonal issues. I use a highly respectful approach in helping my clients address their issues and build effective coping and communication skills. I work with each individual in a way that empowers them to stay in charge of their own therapeutic process.

If you can give your teen and your family the gift of counseling, you can create more joyful family moments, build more confidence in your teen, and watch your teen become a successful and thriving adult.
Ahh TEENAGERS! Is your teen going through a hard time? Or giving you a hard time? You are worried that it might even get worse. Raising teens can be challenging. The fact is -- you don't have to navigate the teen years alone. I equip teens to deal with anxiety and depression, build healthy relationships with family and peers, and make good life choices. I am also a supportive guide to the parents of teens. I coach them to parent from the heart and build healthy family relationships.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
