As the parent of a child on the Autism spectrum, experienced teacher, as well as a behavior analyst, I am able to look at cases from different vantage points. I understand the difficulties both parents and teachers face in coping with behavior issues in their respective environments. In addition, I have worked with both adults and children who have displayed a vast array of interfering behaviors for 20 years. Therefore, I have considerable experience in reducing these types of behaviors and increasing desirable behaviors. Each client is given specialized attention, and plans to change behavior are tailor-designed for each one.

Society puts so many expectations on mothers- be a willing, present parent but still keep a career; drink enough water, exercise, keep your house clean, and feed your family healthy meals but still get enough sleep.
Growing up, you dreamed of being a mom. You were sure you'd always love being with your kids, make healthy meals they'd love, and have fun, educational activities planned every day. Turns out, parenting is exhausting, kids ask the same questions all day every day, and you also have to take care of your household which leaves you drained and irritated. This was not the dream! You don't want to yell at your kids to clean up every day. You want to still have energy for your partner to be the fun person you used to be. You've lost yourself and you want to find your way back to that dream life you imagined.

Other trainings include EMDR, PREPARE/ENRICH, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Experiential, Internal Family Systems, and Psychodrama.
"I need something to change" is a great place to start. Counseling can be a place to facilitate this change. You may find that you are speaking one language while your spouse is speaking another. You can learn how to have a common language and corrective experiences that draw you closer together instead of further apart. Many of your wounds occurred in relationships, thus it is in relationships where they can be restored. I have served individuals and couples in a helping profession for nearly 30 years. You can find practical solutions as well as deep soul and relational change. Though not easy, real change is possible.

in counselor education and supervision from Trevecca University in Nashville as well as a masters in counseling and marriage and family therapy from John Brown University in Arkansas.
Hello everyone! Thanks for taking time to read my profile. I help Disconnected Couples, Restless Entrepreneurs, and Anxious Adults. When I entered this profession, I realized that everyone on the planet needs a safe place to go where they can be completely themselves...and say anything they care to say. At times we need to chat with someone who's not part of our family or friend circles, someone with the training and skills to navigate confusing thoughts, emotions, relationships, careers, and matters of faith.

My approach to psychological healing is integrative, mixing psychodynamic, mind/body, transpersonal, mindfulness, and CBT approaches to psychotherapy. My philosophy of therapy stresses respect for the client and the client’s experience. Therapy often involves the exploration of family of origin issues and the impact of old conditioning on current functioning. I also emphasize the importance of developing existing personal strengths and resources. I often use a personality system called the Enneagram to clarify client strengths and issues. I have expertise in mindfulness. See my website, www.musiccitytherapy.com.

I am quick to laugh, love to learn, and value my relationships with friends and family most of all.
Thank you for your interest in my practice. Choosing the right therapist is undoubtably an important decision. In fact, research has demonstrated that which therapist you work with matters far more than the techniques or approach he or she employs. I work with adults of all ages and am especially drawn to helping people who are open-minded, motivated and eager to learn. I have a passion for helping people improve their relationships (both with themselves and others), and I also love working with people in therapy groups.

Change happens inside of us all the time. It is a daily, intentional, purposeful act. When the pain of remaining the same is greater than the relief of being better, therapy helps. If you're having difficulty navigating relationships with your significant other, spouse, friends, children, or family members, I will help you achieve the change you want to see in yourself. Changes from within effect change around us.

With a master's in marriage and family therapy, I am an EMDR Trained Clinician who completed Basic EMDR training in 2016.
I am an EMDR Trained Clinician and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional who specializes in treating trauma with a background in marriage and family. Additional EMDR training allows me to specifically help performers reach peak performance and work past mental blocks or "yips". Post-EMDR areas of growth may include identity formation, boundaries, and communication skills. Overall, I want my clients to be equipped to pursue a healthy, productive lifestyle. Using an integrative approach, I help clients increase self-efficacy by educating them on health practices they control that positively impact their mental wellbeing.

I also worked as a Child & Family Therapist for 10 years.
Do your kids struggle with remembering to complete and turn in homework on time? Is it hard for them to finish their homework without getting distracted? Do they get easily frustrated if the assignments are challenging or difficult? Do they have trouble falling asleep or getting ready for school in the morning? Are you an adult who often forgets their keys or is late to meetings?

As a counselor of marriage and family therapy, a family systems lens is foundational.
Everyone occasionally gets in a rut or gets stuck from hurts or unhealthy habits. When it keeps you from living your best life and being your best self, taking the first step to get unstuck is sometimes the hardest. Life experience, personal crises, and various roles have given Rebekah a vast base from which to pull to help you maximize your God-given potential, overcome challenges, and celebrate the joys of life.

I work with family members too.
First Responder? You spend the majority of your time at work "ON," ready for the next call or incident with little to no time to decompress. You witness more traumatic events in a week (maybe even a day) than most people see in a lifetime. Continuous response to traumatic events over time has a profound effect on the autonomic nervous system so much so you can find yourself feeling exhausted emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually. You may have difficulty unwinding or getting sleep without the use of social media, alcohol, drugs, sex, porn, video games, gambling, shopping, food to numb the emotions or sensations in the body.

Do you struggle with sex getting more daily attention than your closest relationships? Maybe a previous infidelity or betrayal continues to plague the relationship? Many of my clients struggle to make sense of emotions, but long to feel safe and connected to friends and family. Despite our best protective strategies, emotional experiences will not be ignored. Over a lifespan, adaptive protective strategies of the past become our prisons. Mal-adaptive in the present, old and helpful strategies of the past form the barriers to trusting safe and connected relationships we all desperately desire.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
