In addition, I provide services to family and loved ones of alcoholics and addicts.
"During difficult times I teach people how to better manage their lives and how to avoid feeling victimized by outside circumstances. I establish rapport easily with people and accept people exactly where they are. I create a safe, trusting environment in which a therapeutic relationship can develop. Counseling is an opportunity to learn new skills which may include: improving self-esteem, setting boundaries, making healthy decisions, managing stress and anxiety. As a person begins to have a healthier relationship with themselves, it allows them to take ownership of their life and manage it more productively. "

Are you struggling with unresolved trauma that is now affecting you in ways you can’t ignore? You may notice that your past trauma is affecting your current life. You may notice that your personal identity, family system, mood, and traumatic experiences all interact. If you're navigating the ways trauma can interact with mood, relationships, and the corresponding reckless behavior and identity deconstruction that can arise along the journey, I would love to help. I have extensive experience working with complex trauma in first responders, military members, and veterans.

I hold a master's degree in Counseling Psychology and Human Services with a special focus in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon, where I focused heavily on issues of intimate partner violence, trauma, and social justice.
Are you in a place where you need to talk about gender identity and/or trans issues? Or maybe you identify as trans, gender nonconforming, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or queer and need to talk about other issues but don't want to have to educate your therapist. I can help. As a therapist, I create an environment of safety, respect, and empowerment for you, and I appreciate the powerful influence of culture, community, and beliefs that make your experience unique. I believe you have the inner strength and resources you need. I am here to be your collaborator in healing and change.

My name is Amaelo Ezeonwuka, I’m a therapist that focuses on Individual, marriage and family therapy. Everyone has the potential to make positive changes in their lives. Making those changes is more likely when you find a therapist who is empathetic and authentic-someone with whom you can connect and trust. I am trained in a variety of supported psychological treatments. Although many of these therapeutic techniques are highly structured, I take an individualized approach to understand my clients, viewing each client as unique with personal life experiences belonging only to you.

I pull together influences from Gestalt therapy, internal- family systems, and person-centered counseling.
“Change occurs when one becomes what they are, not when they try to become what they are not." It is my most humble intention to make sure my clients feel they can bring all parts and intersections of their identity into therapy and be greeted free from judgment, with deep care and full acceptance. This is where I feel healing and transformation begin. I see therapy both as being a space for short term problem solving - organizing your thoughts and intentions around a pressing issue or life stressor; and/or a space where healing old wounds and profound growth and transformation is possible.

I use modalities of Internal Family System, Psychedelic integration therapy, body based mindfulness, and the Enneagram.
It takes courage to embrace vulnerability and reach out for support. That's an invaluable asset, and in our work together, we will draw upon the strengths you already possess to address the stressors that emerge. Whether you're navigating significant life transitions, grappling with anxiety and depression, or belong to the LGBTQIA+ community striving to navigate an all-too-often unwelcoming world, I am here to provide assistance. In therapy, you will acquire resources to ground your active nervous system, reduce reactivity in your relationships, and uncover the profound wisdom of your true nature.

Major coursework included child and family counseling, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and group therapy.
My name is Rebecca and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked as a Mental Health Therapist for over 10 years with adults, families and children. I believe that children act out when they are not able to communicate what they need or what stressors they may be having. It is my opinion that parents are experts on their children and that individuals are experts on themselves. I employ an eclectic approach and tailor my approach to the needs of the individual or family

My experience has been with children, adolescents, young adults, & family systems.
Each individual & family has a story, though sometimes it may feel like you're no longer in control of how it's being written. I like to work with my clients so they become masters of their own story. In therapy, I take a client-centered approach to finding what works for each individual. I remain challenging yet sincere, open & non-judgmental to cater to client needs while ensuring a high standard of quality care. Therapy is a collaborative adventure to discover new skills or improve upon existing skills in order to create a more fulfilling & well-balanced life.

Because I have lived experience caring for family members with mental health concerns and has supported my mother through the ageing process, cognitive decline, and an eventual journey through hospice, I have a unique appreciation for the challenges of caregiving across the life cycle.
I've been a licensed therapist for 35 years and received my Masters of Social Work from California State University, Sacramento but consider myself a true Oregonian, living in the Willamette Valley since 1995.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
