EMDR, Internal Family Systems therapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy are all extremely effective in pushing through barriers for major shifts.
Are you ready for a big change? Sometimes we come to a point where we feel like we’ve hit a wall. Maybe you’ve been doing therapy for years, but you still feel like something needs to break through. Or maybe you feel like you know what you need to do in your head, but it's not clicking in your heart and body. If this feels like where you’re finding yourself, I can help. I work specifically with female-identified clients that identify with being highly-sensitive people. Being sensitive in this world can be tough. I want to help you find your power, connect to your intuition, and step into embracing yourself exactly as you are.

I've learned that a family systems approach can be critical in assisting families to become more functional so everyone can get their needs met and thrive.
I've been helping people with the "hard stuff" for a long time. I decided to work in the field of domestic violence in 1998 by way of intervention programs for both men and women who were convicted of an assault or who self identified as wanting to end their use of abuse with their loved ones. I opened my own business in 2000 specializing in anger management, domestic violence, parent education for children and teens, co-parenting education, and a program for parents who were convicted of abuse or neglect. I became a mediator in 2014 and I have conducted thousands of child custody, parenting plan, and family conflict mediations.

With couples, the focus is on improving communication, while family therapy focuses on the interrelationships within the family structure.
"YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND ANOTHER PERSON'S EXPERIENCE UNTIL YOU WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES." That's especially true regarding the thoughts and feelings that often surround deeply personal issues. My practice is informed by my own life experiences as well as a nuanced understanding of the complexity of human nature. Together we will build the degree of trust and rapport necessary for you to: identify maladaptive patterns, challenge negative beliefs, gain insight into past and present events and most importantly, use this information to create permanent positive change in your relationships and the way you think and feel about yourself.

Belonging Is Our Essence......and yet many of us experience situations where we didn't feel valued, heard or seen for who we really are. Whether the message came from our family of origin, our intimate relationships or from cultural oppression, somewhere we got the message that being our authentic self wasn't okay, and sometimes not even safe. I focus on creating a healing space where you won't be judged or harmed as we collaborate to help you learn to be present and be your authentic self, and to shed the layers that no longer serve you.

I would love to connect and see how I can be of support to you, your child or family.
I incorporate many modalities but my base is in relational therapy. This is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the interpersonal relationships and dynamics of an individual (I also explore the family system). This type of therapy emphasizes the importance of relationships in shaping an individual's well-being and mental health. Relational therapy aims to help clients explore and understand how their past and current relationships impact their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By examining patterns of interaction, communication styles, and attachment styles, clients can gain insight into their relational struggles.

We'll put together a plan to rebuild your family, professional, and personal life.
I am a retired high tech executive who has embarked on a career as a life coach specializing in addiction counseling. As a State-certified counselor, I’ve helped men from 20 to 60 years of age and from many backgrounds. However, having worked in the corporate world, I’m uniquely qualified to help people struggling with substance abuse in high pressure environments. Addiction is a secondary issue in my view. The problem is most people approach life in a reactive, rather than proactive mode. This usually results in sub-optimal outcomes. I will help you with personal and professional life planning to get your life on track.

On this journey we call life we are all seeking connection and clarity amid chaos. We all want to be seen, heard, and validated. At times it is difficult to communicate the messages we desire to send in a manner our loved ones can accept. While attempting to communicate these messages conflict may arise. This can be frustrating resulting in hopelessness, confusion, and anxiety.

Coming into a civilization that values separation and individualistic ways I became enlightened by the deep rooted connection and harmony the mind, body, and soul were craving. The suppression of our innate human parts has created exhaustion and burnout that instills conditioning of shame, guilt and fear. My mission is to provide a meaningful safe space to shed these burdens brought on by unrealistic standards of society, family, and our institutions and connect with the healing allies of the earth to remember how to be in alignment with our full embodied selves.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
