Outside of therapy you can find me spending time with my family, watching sports, laughing with friends, and air drumming to a random song in my head.
I enjoy working with teens, young adults, and couples who are going though life transitions. I also have experince supporting individuals in need of sports psychology and sports preformance issues. I focus on inner development, relationship connection, and the importance of social, racial, and cultural identity. I know life can be hard. It takes courage and vulnerability to meet the challenge. As a therapist, I want to create a space that validates your experience and empowers your best self. Like all things in life that are worth it, therapy should be humorous, challenging, fulfilling, and full of discovery.

I have training and experience using EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Ego State, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Trauma-Informed CBT therapy modalities.
I've always believed that my own life's journey and experiences have uniquely prepared me in my desire to help others. I am passionate about working with survivors of trauma. I believe each of us has within us, the ability to heal and grow from any difficulty life hands us. Sometimes we just need the guidance of a caring and competent therapist to carry us through. We all desire to feel safe, seen, and supported when we are our most vulnerable selves. My hope is to provide this kind of therapeutic alliance with my clients. One where the client knows best and I am but a trusted ally on their journey toward better health.

Depending on the needs of my clients, my counseling approach utilizes a variety of therapeutic foundations, including cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, and existential therapy.
We all experience times when we know things can't stay the same, but we don't know how to make them better. It may be pain, loss, or resentments from the past. Or anxiety about future stressors and uncertainties. Or current struggles that leave us feeling powerless and discouraged. It takes humility to admit that what we're doing isn't working, and it takes courage to try something different. Choosing counseling is choosing to stop waiting for life to get better or waiting for people to change. It's choosing to make the changes we can to change our lives for the better

If you are thinking about reaching out for support for yourself, your child, or your family, let’s connect.
You realize you need help, but you’re not sure you or your kid is the sit-on-a-couch-and-talk-about-it type? Are you looking for results, change, and relief? Something different? Something worthwhile? If you’re struggling with explosive behaviors, arguments, aggression, extreme fears, attachment challenges, birth or medical trauma, nightmares, or flashbacks, I can help. The pain of depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, or social and academic pressure can be unbearable. If you have no idea how you found yourself here or know exactly what this is the result of, I'm confident that we can uncover strengths and come out the other side.

I hope to help your child and family build upon your strengths and be a resource for you.
I offer behavior support to children (1-12+ yrs), regardless of disability status, along with their families, teachers, and community members. Are you tired of getting incident reports from school? Struggling to get your child to follow directions? Just need resources for positive guidance? My goal is to help families identify the purpose (function) of the behavior, rank their priorities and goals, identify any skill deficits, and examine environmental variables. Then I can make recommendations regarding interventions and treatment planning that will be a good fit for you. All sessions and consultation are individualized.

My approach takes into account biological science, culture, psychology, family context, and spiritual/religious considerations.
People often come to psychotherapy in search of more peace; to work through personal challenges and/or relieve pain from sources such as anxiety, depression, feelings of inadequacy, loss, or addiction. They may be struggling in their relationships or moving through a profound life transition. For some, their faith has been shaken in some significant way. Whatever the motivation might be for seeking professional help, I care deeply about assisting clients in gaining insight, education, self-awareness, and strength. Everyone has challenges. Working collaboratively, we can achieve the goals most desired for a healthier life.

I received my Masters in Counseling from UNR and previously did a Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies which prompted me to lean towards helping families break unhealthy patterns.
3-4+ month Waitlist! As a Hispanic therapist, I enjoy working from an emotions focused lens with an emphasis in trauma work through EMDR. Though I incorporate soft challenges and value transparency, clients deserve to have their story heard in a safe space free of judgement and criticism. I have experience working with a diverse client population which includes suicide, self-harm, anxiety, depression, identity/cultural issues, body image and family reconciliation. I speak Spanish and encourage Spanglish sessions. Forming a collaborative therapeutic relationship is the most important stage before we explore your experiences together!

I would be honored to provide you, your child, and your family the support needed to reach optimal mental wellness!.
Tiny humans come with big emotions. As a parent, it can feel daunting to be mindful of your emotions as well as the big emotions of your little one. Fortunately, this task does not have to be done alone.

I help codependent clients free themselves from the grasp of narcisisstic partners and family members.
After having been a licensed addictions counselor since 1987 and many years as a practicing Buddhist I have retired my license and shifting my focus to recovery coaching and mindfulness counseling using Buddhist principles to promote happiness. I help with loosening the grip on attachments and aversion which lead to issues with food, substances, and unhealthy relationships with others and self. I have been helping people for over 30 years and I share my own recovery with my clients who I hold very dear.

My goal in counseling clients is to support and walk alongside my clients as they heal, change, grow and become someone they love unconditionally. Counseling is a collaborative process that helps clients gain self-awareness and acceptance. Life is tough and people do not always have the support they need to navigate it. I believe everyone’s voice is important and work hard to provide a safe space for people to have a voice. People are unique in the way they view society, family, relationships, and themselves; so, providing a non-judgmental space for them to be free and gain awareness is something I strive for in counseling clients.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
