In a society that values toxic positivity, rugged individualism, and perfectionism over authenticity - it can be really hard to not feel ashamed, guilty, or even dismissed for not being a “productive member of society” or for not feeling heard/validated in your pain that maybe doesn’t have a solution or an outlet to plug into. This often leads to feeling a sense of emptiness, meaninglessness in life, unsatisfying personal relationships, anxious avoidance, and a lost sense of self - especially when the social, cultural, and environmental factors that may impact your quality of life are not acknowledged.
Our work starts by building a strong therapeutic relationship while identifying the underlying causes and unconscious conflicts maintaining your problems, in order to achieve insight necessary for interacting more effectively with the outside world, while also helping you learn to cope with both external and internal forces that influence your choices.
The behaviors, emotions, relationship patterns, or self-beliefs that no longer work for you can be transformed - rather than pathologized - by developing self-acceptance as we collaboratively identify your goals for therapy based on your individual needs and concerns.
