When we experience difficult emotions, it can be tempting to avoid these feelings. This results in disconnection with ourselves, because our feelings are there to tell us something; a boundary has been crossed, or maybe we have made a decision that is incongruent with our values. Old scripts we learned in childhood may be causing us guilt and shame, preventing us from growing into our authentic selves. This emotional friction may impact our relationships, careers, or physical health. We may have turned to substance use. Or maybe we have spun our wheels so long that now we are stuck in ruts we can’t see our way out of.
My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you are welcome and accepted. My approach is creative and collaborative. I believe in the power of the mind-body connection, and its ability to facilitate growth and change. I balance application of evidence-based practices with a healthy dose of being human.
I believe that every one of us is doing the best we can with what we have. Bringing awareness to our existing strengths opens the door to developing the tools and strategies we need to create the change we want in our lives. I look forward to walking that path with you, as you cultivate a life of congruency and fulfillment.
