I am passionate about helping individuals (adults and teens) struggling with emotional/ compulsive/ binge overeating, self-esteem issues, weight loss and anxiety that is created from these issues. I enjoy working with clients who have a desire to work deeply and create lasting change. Through collaboration we create a safe and supportive environment that allows for insight and healing. Then as emotional traumas or wounds that keep you stuck in the past are healed, the ability to be more present in current life and able to deal with uncomfortable emotions and life circumstances is possible.
The "diet mentality" that is present in our culture can be damaging, unrealistic and unhelpful. Releasing weight is often not about willpower or the right diet, but about uncovering and healing the reasons the extra weight is there to begin with. Until these issues are addressed lasting change is difficult.
I use a unique model of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique or "tapping") to work with compulsive/ binge eating. This technique allows healing of old traumas that are the source of the eating behavior, and helps develop a tolerance for the uncomfortable emotions the eating behavior is trying to hide.
