As a counselor, I use techniques from evidence-based practices, which means the techniques have been proven by research to be effective. I draw from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT )motivational interviewing (MI), and parts work. I utilize a person-centered, strengths-based approach, and I prioritize trauma-informed and gender-affirming care. My therapeutic lens relies heavily on attachment theory, as well. I see attachment as playing a major role in how we relate to others.
My special areas of interest as a counselor include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, self-esteem, gender and sexual identity, attachment, and stress.
I create a therapeutic environment centered around compassion, acceptance, and teamwork. I treat every person as the expert on themselves and their experiences. My role is to be a teammate to you by providing my skills as a therapist. I believe that everyone already possesses strengths and skills, and that we can draw on those to do work together in therapy.
