My name is Emma Johnson, as a licensed clinical social worker, I like to empower your own natural capacity for healing. My main focus areas are complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, emerging adulthood, and relational challenges. I enjoy working with clients who have been in therapy for years and haven't seen results or are brand new to therapy (and maybe a little skeptical). Most of all, I work best with clients who are open to trying new things and come ready to share their questions and reservations.
The approaches I use most are acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness practices. I am trained in other modalities and would be happy to work with you on your individual needs.
My top values are intuition, honesty, and courage which guide my feedback-oriented communication style. This feedback goes both ways, I encourage clients to share when something isn't working in the therapy or our relationship. I believe that transparency is key in a therapeutic relationship.
