We each come to therapy for different reasons, but in my experience, it usually has to do with a growing awareness that there’s something standing in the way of our ability to be who we want to be. Sometimes it’s not clear what the obstacle is or even what exactly we are striving for. I believe deeply that therapy can be transformative, and research tells us that the best therapeutic work is compassionate, intentional, and fundamentally collaborative.
I work with adults, children, parents, and couples to overcome patterns that are no longer working for them. My approach is depth-oriented and characterized by a wish to understand my clients in a way that helps them better understand themselves— my background in sociology is invaluable for exploring self and context (and the relationship between the two).
Change can be scary, and it is often helpful to have some company and professional guidance along the way. If you are ready to understand yourself better, especially the confusing or contradictory parts, I’d love to hear from you.
