I specialize in working with people feeling challenged by relationships, work, parenting (from pregnancy through empty nest), and aging, as well as people struggling with trauma, grief, and loss. I start from the position that past experiences and attachments have profound effects on our everyday lives, and our abilities to move forward. I have an interest in working with those who navigate multiple cultures and communities (through, for example, racial identity, class background, immigration, religion, gender, and sexuality), as well as those who work in education, healthcare, nonprofit, and creative fields.
My work is trauma-informed, meaning that individual and collective traumatic experiences and relationships can be woven into a person’s experience of the world, and will need tending to in our time together; and relational, or that our primary motivation is to relate to others, and values the client/therapist relationship as integral to insight and healing.
I have an open, nonjudgmental manner. I also understand that people often come to therapy because their own best efforts to make something in their lives easier or better has not yet worked for them. I enjoy actively consulting with clients to help define both what ails them, and what will help clear their path to the life they want for themselves.
