From a trauma and attachment lens, I work with couples and individuals using a variety of tools such as Emotions Focused Therapy, polyvagal theory, EMDR, Lifespan Integration, and mindfulness to help calm, regulate, and tend to your experience.
Deep healing occurs in safe, attuned, compassionate relationships with ourselves and others. It is often our trouble with relationships, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts and feelings, addictions, performance issues, etc. that clue us into our need to slow down and tend to the stories and meaning (often implicitly) encoded in our mind, hearts, and bodies. Good therapy is a process of not only alleviating distressing symptoms, but learning to know ourselves and the ways our past shows up in our present, so that we can more deeply flourish in our relationships.

I am trained in EMDR and work with IFS and Jungian dreamwork.
The decision to start therapy takes courage. It takes a willingness to walk toward your suffering and reclaim the parts of yourself that have been diminished, shamed, and cast aside. I believe that our suffering has meaning and can be the key to deep transformation and growth. If you are called to walk through the doorway of your struggles and find what gifts and insights are waiting on the other side, I can help you on that journey. Our work will go beyond symptom management, into the deep inner territory of self-knowledge and self-actualization.

I have a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Embodied Creative Arts Therapy, prior certification in chemical dependency/addiction counseling, and certification at EMDR.
Are you feeling stuck? What's getting in the way of living a satisfying life, one with heart and meaning? You may be coming to therapy because of a new development or something very old, you may not even know what it is. You may also be adding to your burden by judging your self unfairly. But there is hope, therapy can usher in exciting transformation. When we can embrace the gifts that come with challenges, old fears lose their power. I deeply enjoy helping clients explore/work through difficulties with the purpose of breaking old patterns and intentionally creating a new path forward. Healing and growth is possible for you too.

Navigating life’s pressures can be challenging, especially when compounded with the impact of painful live events, intergenerational trauma, and broken systems. Using an Attachment-Based perspective in combination with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques.
On the outside you appear to have a great life. Meanwhile, internally you feel empty, hopeless, on edge, excessive worrying, and an inability to create balance in all areas of your life. You’re probably exhausted from attempting to tackle these uncomfortable feelings day after day to no avail. It’s almost as if the harder you try to feel at peace or content with yourself you sink deeper into feeling you’re just not good enough or a failure. You’ve possibly wondered if there is something wrong with you.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
