I am excited to work together to figure out how to best help you! My specialty is EMDR, which can help provide a new perspective on negative experiences.
You're a badass go-getter, motivated by working towards your life's goals, but something feels stuck or slows your progress. Your life is mostly together, but you're dealing with anxiety, low-self esteem, or negative self-talk pretty regularly. Maybe you feel like it's hard to form relationships with others around you. There's a chance social media makes you feel inadequate. Maybe you still feel or notice the effects of a trauma in your past. You've considered talking to someone about these things before, but therapy always seemed drastic or a little too extra. (I promise, it's not!) Email or call if this sounds like you!

I approach therapy on an individualized basis tailoring to meet the needs of my clients by incorporating a collaborative, client-centered, trauma-informed approach to mindfulness, Adlerian theory, EMDR, and attachment theory.
Life may have presented many challenges along the way, and figuring out where to begin can discourage us from starting at all. But you don’t have to do this alone. I believe that we all have the capability to overcome life’s challenges and you are the expert on your own story. From this, I bring to light client's inherent strengths, accompany them on their healing journey, and empower them with the tools they need to be successful. Through a holistic, multicultural lens, I help clients find fulfillment within themselves and the communities they identify with.

Using "Internal Family Systems" (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprogramming (EMDR) I help clients process, heal and thrive.
I am continually amazed at the capacity of the human spirit. So I see my role as helping you access your inner resources to move toward wholeness and health. I work with clients who are depressed, anxious, facing relationship challenges, struggling with intense emotions, and trauma survivors.

I am trained in EMDR and grief counseling, and I use these skills to promote healing and resilience.
I believe that everyone can heal, grow, and thrive through therapy. I enjoy working with clients to help them process trauma, loss, and grief and to help those who are suffering from depression and anxiety. Everyone needs connection and relationships in their lives. I help my clients become aware of their own needs, emotions, and fears so that they are better able to connect with others. My own experience with grief after losing my husband in a car accident forced me to grow and learn about recovery from catastrophic loss. We all face unique challenges and tragedies in our lives. Therapy can help us to feel less alone in our pain.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
