Mindfulness-based modalities including EMDR are central to my perspective and the support I offer.
There is no substitute for compassion in the counseling relationship. I believe in a whole-person approach. This means that everything is relevant: family of origin, unwanted life events, current relationships, physical health and well being, and everyday coping challenges. I assist my clients with life transitions, grief, early childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, chronic pain, relationship challenges, and spiritual issues. I endorse and have expertise in mindfulness-based practices and 12+ years of Hospice experience. Strengths: trusting relationships with my clients.

I am EMDR trained and find that this therapy helps with many areas clients want to address.
Are anxiety and depression constant companions in your life? Do you wonder if fulfillment in life, relationships, and work are possible? It could be that your life was going quite well until an unwelcome visitor such as chronic pain, a diagnosis, loss, addiction, betrayal, or trauma showed up to stay. Or, it could be that you have rarely if ever enjoyed a sense of well-being. My greatest joy is in helping people find strength, hope, and happiness despite the darkest of life’s experiences.

We bridge Eastern and Western modalities like EMDR and Parts Work with Yoga, Reiki, Crystals, and more! We specialize in emotional neglect, sexual assault, anxiety, complex trauma, and people-pleasing.
Ever feel like you're constantly juggling everyone else's needs, saying "yes" even when you're exhausted? This relentless "good girl" act leaves you drained and resentful like you're living in someone else's story. On top of that, your mind replays past situations on a loop. You constantly worry: Will I ever feel "good enough?" Why am I so drawn to relationships that leave me drained? How do I clear these blocks holding me back? Past experiences might have made you feel like you had to be perfect or prove yourself worthy of love. This disconnect between the life you've built and the one you crave is a powerful signal.

I specialize with certifications and extensive training in EMDR, equine assisted psychotherapy, child-parent psychotherapy, trauma conscious yoga, and eating disorders.
The treatment of complex histories of trauma, eating disorders, and attachment disruptions must include interventions that rewire the brain from the bottom up, somatic movement to reintegrate the body with the brain, and a felt sense of safety, in the context of relationship. This provides lasting change for improved regulation, mood, energy, the ability to be present and attune to others. Too many therapies focus on decision making, problem solving, or changing your thoughts. This is not how we are wired to work. It leads to disappointment. My evidenced based interventions promise to be different.

I use a mix of Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, ERP, ACT, Ecotherapy, Yoga, Somatic Processing and DBT to help them find peace with the hard stuff.
Sometimes life just gets messy. I enjoy supporting both minors and adults in finding self compassion and growth while experiencing the uncomfortable. In sessions together, we can learn to do this by navigating trauma responses, depression, anxiety, life transitions, suicidal thoughts, relationships, body-image challanges, disordered eating, behavioral issues, and stress. Through both doing my own work and spending time with clients, I wholeheartedly feel we can find so much healing by getting curious about our emotions and greeting whatever arises with kindness, respect, and a bit of humor

I have practiced Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) since 2009.
Many of the people that I meet in my practice are feeling "stuck" in some area of life - they can't seem to get traction in making change happen. Addictions, co-dependence, anxiety, depression, anger, poor self-image, lack of assertiveness, lack of closeness in relationships, and struggles with getting past major life traumas are many of the issues we focus on in sessions.

I am trained in EMDR, HeartMath, and Breathwork therapies while also utilizing somatic techniques and mindfulness-based practices.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is an organic experience that cannot be created elsewhere. My experience has shown me that each of us walks our own path and that no two are the same. Having support while walking your path can be just the thing to make the difference. I strive to provide safety so that you can talk about your life, your family, your pain, and sit in the tension to ultimately begin living more authentically. I work from a holistic approach; given that, we will develop the best course of treatment for your needs, together.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
