I am trained in DBT & MI and am currently completing my EMDR training.
My ideal population is adults struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress, or substance use - however I believe that everyone deserves to have a therapist who is dedicated to them, and I would never turn away a client unless their needs were out of my scope of practice. My ideal client is someone who is motivated for therapy and is willing to learn.

These range from psychodynamic to solution focused therapies, as well as EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, and gestalt and existential techniques.
I believe that we all struggle with trauma, and most mental health challenges stem from how one adapts to these experiences. I specialize in working with trauma, identifying how it is held in the body, the strategies we uphold as defense mechanisms, and how to negotiate with our inner self to move toward a healthy healing of mind and body. Coming from either a top down approach for those thinker types, or a bottom up approach for those feeler types, we will compassionately reconnect the mind and body, in order to achieve relief and greater connectivity to self and others.

I use EMDR to help integrate the physical and emotional parts of trauma; culture-centered therapy and curiosity to help you identify ways to balance your cultures; Harm Reduction Psychotherapy for substance use to understand the meanings drugs hold in our lives.
Some experiences cannot be put into words and yet their impact lasts a lifetime. Tendrils of that impact are apparent in most aspects of our lives. I specialize in working with such experiences, whether you call it traumatic, something else, or nothing at all. I have had years of experience in crisis management, interpersonal relationship building, and coping skills support, all from a culturally-informed perspective. My culture does influence my perspective and responses in life so I hold people’s cultural identity as central to their therapy.

Utilizing cognitive and somatic techniques from modalities such as EMDR, ACT, Brainspotting, and IFS, I can assist in breaking cycles of harm you may feel trapped in.
Therapy can be such an overwhelming process to get started with, especially when you may also be struggling with ADHD, trauma symptoms, or anxiety that make everyday tasks feel monumental. For marginalized people in particular, feeling safe and truly seen by their therapist may be particularly challenging. As a Black, queer, neurodivergent therapist with 10 years experience, my approach is relational, strengths-based, person-centered, affirming, and anti-oppressive. Together we'll implement accessible, functional strategies to help you close the gap between the life you're living and the life you envision for yourself.

I use a variety of therapeutic modalities to treat the impacts of trauma, including EMDR.
I can help you cope and heal from sexual and relationship trauma. Trauma can fracture who you are as a person. It can make you feel unlike yourself, distant from others, and changed forever. This does not have to be permanent. Together, we can build resilience, access your strengths, and free you from your past. Learning to understand your trauma, manage symptoms, change patterns, and increase self-esteem can help you cultivate the life and meaningful relationships that you want. Most of my clients have experienced rape, sexual assault, childhood abuse, systemic oppression, and/or violence from a partner.

Do you feel isolated, anxious, hurt, and misunderstood? Does it feel like nobody else can understand the experiences that you went through? Do you feel as though you lost a part of you and you cant find yourself? Does it feel as though the experiences that you went through changed who you are and that you cant seem to understand yourself anymore?

I utilize a variety of approaches including IFS, EMDR, mindfulness and meditation.
Some things are difficult to think about and even harder to talk about. Perhaps you are experiencing depression or anxiety, dissatisfaction in a relationship or career, or struggling with substance abuse/misuse or self-sabotaging behaviors. These are just some of the many reasons that one might find themselves seeking help from a therapist. When one makes the decision to seek help it is the courageous first step in the journey to self-awareness and a more fulfilling life. Very simply, my role as a therapist is to help you begin the transformative journey of uncovering limiting beliefs that are obstacles to emotional wellness.

As a therapist specializing in trauma modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), I’ll help you feel secure enough to explore the root of any suffering, and capable enough to find the freedom that awaits you on the other side.
Anxiety, depression, and unprocessed trauma are holding you back, and you're feeling really stuck. You want to thrive, to feel like your life is moving in a clear direction, that you’re no longer cycling through patterns that have only caused you more pain. You’re tired of feeling like you are going around in circles, feeling “stuck” but you're not exactly sure why or what to do. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you weren’t feeling anxious, exhausted, or doubting yourself. You’re curious about what a life full of intention, joy, and peace could be like but aren’t sure how to get there. I hear you; it’s time to transform.

I am a certified EMDR clinician and specialize in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD and subsequent relationship issues.
Having the tools we need to navigate our way through life's challenges is often the key to greater happiness and fulfillment. I believe that human beings start from a place of health and resilience. When we have difficult or traumatic experiences, we can often be sidetracked by self-doubt, anxiety, depression and more. This can make life and relationships feel overwhelming, confusing and at times unmanageable. Therapy provides a safe space to explore and understand ourselves better while also developing the tools we need to move forward. Through this process, we can begin to heal from the past while creating a more intentional future.

I use psychodynamic modalities as well as EMDR and Somatics.
Life is infinitely dimensional - amazing, and so utterly hard! Negotiating relationships, navigating purpose, moving through predictable and unpredictable life transitions, managing crises, and just contending with the inevitable reality of ongoing change. It can be a frustrating and fulfilling process to really pay attention, integrate experience, and find balance in the midst of it all. How to work with the rich material of life effectively, creatively, and well? Therapy can help: slow things down, make space to pay attention, gather perspective, and shore up support.

I utilize an integrative model, drawing from relational, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, EMDR, and attachment based approaches.
Many find themselves at a point in their lives where external support is necessary to navigate life's challenges. My clients seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Some may come to therapy to deal with a specific struggle, such as anxiety or depression, while others initiate therapy during a difficult life transition. Even positive transitions, such as getting a new job or starting a new relationship can be stressful. Together, we will merge our resources to address these challenges in a safe environment by exploring patterns, processing events from the past, and creating plans for change in the future.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
