I am trained in EMDR, an evidence-based technique to resolve traumatic memories.
I can help you with depression and anxiety and relationship difficulties. I work to help people move forward when they feel stuck in unhealthy patterns of feelings and behaviors. My belief is that we all have within us the capacity to flourish if the obstacles to doing that are identified and removed. I like to work with people who are committed to their healing and prepared to risk changing in order to thrive. I have experience helping clients heal from childhood trauma, from grief and loss of all kinds, from constant worry, and from persistent negative ideas about themselves. My approach is collaborative and interactive.

I use EMDR, Progressive Counting, Trauma Systems Therapy, as well as Sandtray & Play therapy interventions.
Clients work with me to find the person hidden behind the protective walls they have built up to feel safe. They need, and want, to feel close to family and friends again but are scared it might not work out in their favor. Their goals are often to love themselves, speak up for themselves, and know they are capable no matter how hard life may be in this season. My clients want to let the past be the past and have their future go the way they've envisioned for so long.

Speaking one's story and processing one's experience is often best done with another. I will provide a safe and compassionate space for you to grow and heal. In my experience, pain and worry decrease throughout the therapeutic process. Life becomes more fulfilling and more manageable. I believe you are your own best expert and my role is to walk alongside you in your path of growth. I am trauma-informed: utilizing mindfulness, EMDR, and somatic interventions. I have been working as a therapist since 2000. I specialize in the treatment of adolescent body image issues, self-harm, depression, anxiety, and parent coaching of teens.

EMDR, is a comprehensive psychotherapy treatment technique designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories.
Hello, my name is Iuliana Petre, and I am a CO LPC (LPC.0015281), and a WA LMHC (HC 60620931). In 2013, I graduated from Antioch University Seattle in Seattle, WA, with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. At my counseling practice, I offer talk therapy and EMDR. Every client I work with begins as a talk therapy client. Some choose to utilize only this modality. For other clients — for whom EMDR may be appropriate — we'll engage in a conversation about using this treatment technique, after we’ve established a secure therapeutic alliance.

For over 27 years, I've helped people transform their lives by providing consistent support, Cognitive-Behavioral therapies for better habits, Mind-Body Therapies for better health and emotional regulation, and EMDR therapy to work through unresolved trauma.
Have you been dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, unresolved pain, or anger? How you feel impacts so many things- your relationships, your health, your sleep and your work. You may have tried making some changes to feel better on your own, however, you may be frustrated by your progress. You know things could be better. Finding a therapist you truly connect with can help you gain the skills you need to transform your life into one that feels calmer, more joyful and healthier.

(EMDR & Ketamine Therapy are my favs!).
Constantly overthinking, being overly critical of yourself & your body, feeling anxious & insecure yet masking it, overworking & overachieving, & being afraid of disappointing others is an exhausting way to live. Can you imagine if you weren't so driven to people-please, perfect, & perform for others & lived with an unshakeable belief that you are fundamentally enough? I'd love for you to feel that. If in a life transition, consider yourself a highly sensitive person, or are simply interested in personal development, I'm here for that too. Let's get to the roots of things, shift stuck patterns, & make transformation happen together!

In order to offer these, I utilize EMDR, CBT, DBT, and narrative therapy, among other tools and techniques.
I am currently serving clients virtually in Colorado and Florida. Whether you're ready to jump in or you're just exploring if therapy is a good fit for you, I'm here to walk next to you on your journey. Therapy is about helping you, the client, be the best version of who you want to be, at whatever stage you’re in. We work together to help you identify and choose what you want and need in your life, and empower you to work through the things that are preventing you from being there. “The things” could be anything causing difficulty for you or keeping you "stuck". I can help you see beyond what has been or what is, to what can be.

I incorporate an integrated therapeutic approach utilizing methods informed by neuropsychology and somatic interventions, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), Gottman method, & Mindfulness.
Try releasing your shoulders from your ears, unclenching your jaw, and removing your tongue from the roof of your mouth. We tend to hold onto stress in the least noticeable ways and subtle changes can help bring awareness to our stress patterns. Whether you find yourself struggling with anxiety, sexual/gender identity, relationships, life transitions, or the general stress of everyday life, you are in the right place. My hope is that through collaboration and a safe space to explore whatever it is you may be facing, I can be of support to you along your way.

I am EMDR-trained and enjoy using this modality with clients whose trauma symptoms compromise their daily life or sense of self.
Welcome! I’m Ellie, a therapist in Denver specializing in trauma-informed care for women, FWTNB folks with relationship trauma, anxiety, and high sensitivity. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where every client feels safe and seen. I tend not to make promises in therapy, but here are two things I know to be true: 1. You deserve to be well and 2. No one has ever hated themselves into happiness. If you find it easier to be kind to others than to yourself or worry that people would be disappointed if they knew the "real" you, let's talk. Together, we'll cultivate the self-compassion you need to heal and thrive.

In addition to my education and 21 years of practice experience, I have completed extensive EMDR training.
I see psychotherapy as a very essential tool for addressing difficulties, building skills, and honing strengths so that you can live your fullest life. Let's face it, life can get complicated. Sometimes even your day-to day can be hard. And the unexpected does happen. Some things we are not meant to go through alone. I can help with the everyday struggles as well as with the big, once-in-a lifetime events that we will all experience.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
