I provide a safe, supportive relationship where you can explore issues and grow without judgment. I draw from several psychotherapeutic approaches and use what clients are comfortable with yet challenged by such as: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, Attachment theory, Psychodynamic therapy, group psychotherapy, existential/spiritual exploration, mindfulness meditation and addiction relapse prevention and recovery. I only see clients by video. I find it just as effective as face-to-face and you have the comfort of home and no traffic.

I specialize in EMDR, DBT and Group Therapy.
I believe that all people have an innate ability and desire for growth. Some of us just need that someone that they can talk to. Most of us think we are strong enough to be able to work it out on our own. Unfortunately, that is not always true. We tend to be our own worst enemy. Sometimes, a different perspective is all it takes. Many of us live life in accordance to our "belief system". If we carry a negative self view or the world, how can we expect to live life to it's fullest. We are working to heal our inner child through self-compassion, understanding, non-judgement and validation of self and others.

My specialty is working with adolescents to adults. In my practice I integrate several therapeutic methods to achieve your goals... I am also a certified EMDR Therapist. EMDR is a highly effective treatment for people that need deep change, yet do not want to stay stuck with experiencing intense feelings of pain and shame. My client's have found that EMDR has also been a powerful aid in helping them breakthrough addictive feelings/behaviors ( depression, anxiety and behavioral addictions) that keep them in a negative and frustrated mental loop. We end the session with positive protocols that strengthen your objectives.

We can build in EMDR, Brené Brown shame resiliency work, expressive therapy, and CBT skills, among other methods.
Using a resiliency-focused approach, it doesn’t have to be an ordeal to heal. In fact, neuroscience has shown this is not the best way to work on oneself. Rather, focusing on regulating the nervous system using simple wellness skills and education about the brain and body connection can pave the way toward increased daily well-being as well as lay groundwork for resolving trauma. We can't always prevent stressors, and many of us have been through challenges or traumas in childhood that make it difficult to weather life's changes. Together, we will co-create the best course of treatment to help you live more fully in each moment.

Don't let trauma continue to convince you are alone in this! I am an EMDR Certified Therapist that is here to do this with you in a compassionate, safe, & non-judgmental way! Contact me for a free 15-20 minute consultation.
Bad things are bound to happen in life - this is just part of being alive. Sometimes it is easy for us to bounce back to our to normal lives & then there are those other times where it seems as if we are stuck on a rollercoaster of emotions with no end in sight. And then at other moments, we think that we've dealt with this bad thing, only to have it keep popping up in random ways in our lives. Being in that kind of place can feel frustrating, confusing, lonely, and let's face it, pretty scary because it is difficult to know what to do, where to go, or who to turn to for help.

In addition to traditional “talk therapy,” I am a certified hypnotherapist, as well as EMDR trained ((http://www.
Therapy is about exploring transitions and losses. A loss of a relationship, a job, a lifestyle, a home, a friendship, or the loss of a dream or expectation. We dismiss some losses, not realizing their impact on our day to day life. We may suffer from anxiety or depression without understanding why they are present. Other losses, however, can be so traumatic that we lose our ability to heal from them. Moreover, we find ourselves repeating the same mistakes, not being able to transform ourselves and change our behavior, even when we realize that our reactions are unhelpful and self-destructive. We wonder whether life will be better.

We will collaborate to create an individualized trauma-informed experience to facilitate healing, drawing on multiple modalities, including Mindfulness, Somatic, Relational, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Expressive Arts.
Past experiences can haunt you and contribute to overwhelming emotions that derail your best intentions and interfere with your goals, dreams, and connections with others. Interpersonal relationships are challenging enough without societal pressures, less-than-helpful norms and legacies, and problematic environments that make us feel devalued or ashamed. I also understand the unique challenges of life as a creative. Asking for help is tough, but building a healthier, more compassionate relationship with yourself, others, and your nervous system is even tougher without support. You've already taken the hardest step. Don't stop now!

And I draw from attachment theory, emotion focused individual therapy (EFIT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral (CBT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), and dialectical behavior (DBT), based on client need.
My passion is in helping clients to feel empowered, capable, compassionate, and connected to self and others. I believe that we humans are born with an innate capacity to accept ourselves as we are, ask for our needs to be met, and seek out meaningful social connection. Our life experiences, however, can prevent us from remembering that we are lovable, deserving, competent, and enough as we are. I help clients work through past experiences that may still have a hold on the present. And while working through these barriers, I (gently) push clients to take daily steps in the direction of their goals and values!

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
