I am primarily a trauma-based therapist and utilize EMDR, Attachment-based work, Play therapy, Trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, and Sand tray therapy.
I believe the purpose of therapy is to empower individuals to recognize that they are enough and they already have the tools within themselves to thrive. I strive to meet you where you are at and provide a safe, validating, and welcoming place to explore and process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It is my desire to both sit with you in the lows and celebrate with you at the highs and make space for the breadth and depth of those feelings.

I am trained in, and often use, EMDR and Brainspotting to aid in decreasing symptoms of emotional distress in order to promote positive thinking and feeling.
I believe that we all have the ability to heal and reach our goals. My ultimate objective is to provide my clients with the tools to gain greater self-awareness and empower them to transform their life. My background includes working with children (ages 10+), adolescents, young adults, and families. If you and/or your child have experienced trauma or adversity, we can work together to find new ways to manage stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, behavioral concerns, or difficulties in relationships.

My primary specialty is relationships issues and trauma for which I use EMDR and EFT.
Have you ever observed how much of human behavior is driven by our basic human needs for balance and connection? Think about the ways we risk and reach for our partners. Think about how you cope when you feel lonely or rejected or the ways you mask the discomfort of feeling overwhelmed or depressed. It might show up as an eating disorder, conflict in your relationship or sexual issues, even stress at work. If you feel the ways you navigate life stressors are not as effective as you would like I am here to help. I see therapy as a safe, secure place to work through life’s challenges in a collaborative, non-judgemental environment.

I use modalities such as EMDR combined with traditional insight-oriented talk therapies and somatic therapies to help clients reach their goals.
I believe that all people are doing the best that they can, and are striving to achieve maximum happiness and life satisfaction. However, there are often difficulties in life that prevent us from fully realizing that potential. My objective as a therapist is to help you move through the things that are blocking you from optimal wellness.

I'm trained in CBT, DBT, EFT, EMDR, and am currently completing my certification to become a licensed CSAT.
I believe that everyone is full of innate goodness and has the capacity to change. We are all valuable and deserve love, compassion, and acceptance. I believe we have the power to take hold of our lives. We can’t always change our circumstances, but we can change the way we view ourselves and our environment. I believe in the whole person, and through empathy and unconditional self-regard, I treat my clients with compassion and respect. I provide a safe, loving, non-judgmental environment so that we can explore ways to overcome obstacles and challenges. Sometimes, we just need to know we have someone in our corner rooting for us.

My own healing journey began at a very young age. I have had many experiences throughout my life, teaching me that healing is possible. These experiences led me to studying and learning various therapeutic techniques such as: EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Integral Somatic Psychology. These trauma focused techniques can help guide us through deep suffering and emotional pain, toward healing the mind, body and spirit. Even when your path seems darkest, there is hope and light along the way. It takes courage to face demons from the past and move forward with strength and hope toward the future.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
