I am a registered play therapist and also certified in EMDR.
I work with children, adolescents, and young adults. I believe that the therapeutic process is fostered by building a trusting and empathetic relationship. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore and process ones experiences. Many children and teens struggle with a variety of emotional challenges. Therapy can help them to explore the different areas of their lives and learn skills that they can use to feel better about themselves and their situation.

I utilize EMDR Therapy, DBT, TF-CBT, and Emotion-Focused modalities to guide my work with you toward lasting change.
Sometimes it can feel like finding peace, contentment, and a sense of feeling “enough” is out of reach. The weight of traumas, heartaches, anxieties, and other painful emotions can linger, leaving us feeling stuck. But here's what's important: they contain the key to your own healing. Together, we will navigate towards steadiness, fostering a sense of wholeness, and building healthy connections. Throughout your therapeutic journey, we will work to understand your experiences, integrate coping techniques, and redirect toward a path that better suits you. My hope is to leave you feeling empowered to engage more fully with your life.

Psychotherapy is our chance to connect to that support in a safe environment where we can explore, learn and grow. We are not always prepared to cope with the challenges that confront us. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), my role is to walk the path with you and begin to develop the skills needed to move through the unexpected challenges of life and heal the past. I work with diverse population and welcome all.

EMDR is a process that can take the edge off of those traumatic experiences and help move you to a new place of clarity.
When you find yourself needing a divorce, and as a couple, you want to end the relationship on your terms, you can turn to me for Divorce Mediation. Often clients possess the means to resolving issues and they just need a little help to arrive there. I offer sound solutions after problems are identified. Let me also serve as your independent mediator for child custody. Designed to assist an already overburdened court system it is the logical process to choose.

Although I do not use it as a primary modality anymore, I have Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) training that influences my trauma-informed approach.
As a marriage and family therapist, my focus is relationships and attachment. For those healing from a relationship injury (affairs or other hurtful events), I follow a structured process to repair, understand, and re-envision the future. The stresses of life can create disconnection with your loved one(s). I help couples, families, and individuals learn their relationship patterns and practice communication skills. Some of this stress appears in conflicts about mental load/invisible labor in which I help couples anticipate and interrupt their negative cycles. Another focus of my work is sexual wellness and all that it encompasses.

I am trained in Brainspotting and EMDR.
The ideal client is someone who wants to get a different perspective, who wants to address personal challenges and recognizes that their life's work is defined by how well they manage those challenges. I am interested in working with people who want to live their best lives. Spiritual emergence is the term that best describes the process of self-discovery and self-actualization. Spirituality in this context is the realization of one's potential and the recognition that the things that get in the way are the inevitable hurdles to transformation.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
