My name is Elizabeth O'Brien, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I work with adults who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences in order to feel their best. I am eclectic in my approach to treatment, incorporating elements of CBT, DBT, strengths-based psychotherapy, and psychodynamic work. I enjoy the challenges of working with clients experiencing difficulties with relationships and life transitions, managing stress and anxiety, depression, and substance use and addiction disorders.
I have a collaborative and warm style, and my clients often tell me they like working with me because I am an active participant in our work together. I have always enjoyed working with people in a helping-professional capacity and was drawn to advancing my career following several years working in the non-profit sector.
Hoping to develop my clinical skills, I pursued a graduate degree in social work in 2006 from San Francisco State University and completed my post-graduate clinical licensure in 2011.
