I believe that everyone has the ability to lead a satisfying and productive life, and that it's never too late to start. We all also have the capacity to get "stuck" in unproductive situations or relationships. The key ingredients for a successful outcome in therapy are the individual's, couple's, or family's readiness for change, and the safe, supportive, collaborative relationship we develop. My deepest interest lies in helping clients recognize their own needs, goals, strengths, under-utilized talents, and decision-making capacity. With the clarity they obtain, I can help them take some necessary steps to improve their lives.
My approach is a personal integration of all I have learned and experienced. People have said I'm "friendly," "humane," "non-judgmental", "insightful," "responsive," "encouraging," "good in a crisis." Good therapy involves self-exploration, but there is usually a practical side - skills involved - when you're ready to take some action steps.
For many years I was involved in medical education - "the real world" outside my office! Now, my therapy clients are physicians, but also attorneys, business people, writers, musicians, artists.
