Anxiety and depression can be exhausting and disorienting. We tell ourselves, along with friends and family we should just “snap out of it”. But these moods can be out of our ability to change on our own. Avoiding them eventually leads to the anxiety and or depression getting worse. There are ways to lessen these feelings and reclaim our lives. I worked for 9 years at a local non-profit with veterans, first responders and their partners dealing with these issues as well as various types of trauma. There is hope. Although each client is different with different outcomes, the first step is to reach out for help.
I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which has helped many people deal with difficult past events in a way that benefited them. I work with clients who have experienced impactful events, including trauma, and have seen their symptoms lessen.
