Aloha, my name is Earl Lau and I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Hawaii since 2008. I work primarily with adults, via telehealth, and specialize in anxiety, stress, anger, depression, and military-related issues (deployment, PCS's, transitioning out of the military). I typically individualize my therapeutic approach based on the needs of the client. I like to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as most clients find it easier to use and apply to their busy lives. I use other treatment modalities as well depending on the problems clients want to address.
I prefer to work with adults as my approach and experience seem to resonate with both young and older adults. I enjoy helping people identify their problems and working with them to alleviate their discomfort.
My communication style is open, honest, and predicated on my active listening skills. I want to ensure my clients always feel like they are being heard and understood. I also want them to feel like therapy is an interactive process in which we are working together to meet their needs.
