I enjoy helping adolescents and their caregivers cope more effectively with life's stressors together. I also like to help women of all ages and stages to feel strong and successful in their various roles. I utilize talk therapy, through multiple approaches and psychoeducation, to empower my clients with greater self-esteem and confidence, and with stronger coping skills to succeed at home and work.
My experience is with foster care, adoption, adolescent issues, play therapy, general mental health issues (anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief and loss, ADHD, etc...), immigrant issues, and women empowerment. I can also provide Christian counseling if requested. Most of all, I am a lifelong learner who seeks to not just to survive, but to thrive.
I wear many hats and play many roles, including that of an immigrant, American of Chinese & Vietnamese descent, a Christian wife, a working mother, a Social Work professor, and a Christian leader of a nonprofit organization I co-founded. In 2016, I published a memoir/self-help book called East Meets West: Parenting from the Best of Both Worlds.
