I have been a counselor for about 15 years. Prior to that I was a public school teacher & counselor. For the past 5 years I've worked in private practice while working 2 days a week at a behavioral health hospital in their outpatient program facilitating psychoeducational groups for adults.
After years of observing people, relationships, there are obvious human patterns - those that are helpful or damaging, effective & ineffective. THE main pattern I've observed? We tend to gradually adjust to others to "make things work"...often to the point of adjusting away from our TRUE SELF!
