I believe that everyone who walks into my office comes with their own unique personality and life experiences; I don't believe that the same approach works for everyone. People are so much more than the diagnosis or "label" they are given. Getting to know my clients and building a trusting relationship is the most important part of therapy. In the end, my goal is to help my clients rely on their own strengths and successes to help them through personal challenges.
As a parent of 2 children with ADHD, I understand the struggle parents face in trying to ensure that their children have the needed resources to succeed academically and the pain felt when they experience failure despite our efforts. With 10 years experience as a teacher, I also understand the difficulties teachers face in trying to help kids who struggle.
I feel so fortunate to have a job that involves helping others. I love working with children because I know that this is the time in life when we can really impact change. I also realize that we all learn differently and teaching children to acknowledge and accept those differences in themselves is imperative to their emotional maturity.
