Family of origin is our primary learning lab for life. It is where we get our most basic information: is the world a safe place? What does it mean to be a human person? What about feelings? Is it ok to talk about them? it is where we learn about relationships, communication, and intimacy, and where we learn rules and roles that we use to navigate our way through life. Accordingly, in therapy we will explore these early experiences to illuminate why we are the way we are and why we do the things we do in the present.
I provide individual psychotherapy for persons recovering from childhood trauma and abuse, PTSD, depression, sexuality issues, and addictions. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, and use Pia Mellody's model of trauma resolution and shame reduction with abuse survivors. I also have extensive experience and expertise in working with the LGBTQ+ community.
Every client who comes to my office already has everything they need for their own healing and transformation. My role is not to give you something you don't have, but to help you access your personal resources and inner wisdom so you can make the choices you need to make for your own optimal growth and healing.
