I offer Somatic Experiencing (SE) sessions. Do you struggle with the effects of trauma, stress, neglect or injury? Feeling overwhelmed by issues of social justice and the environment? Living with and talking about these things can cause strong reactions in our bodies that deserve their own approach, in addition to psychotherapy. We want to feel comfortable in our skin - able to rest, feel a sense of belonging and confidently stand up for ourselves and others in a balanced way. SE helps clients navigate painful emotions and memories as the related physical sensations gently become more differentiated and take on new meanings.
You'll learn to observe and “track” body sensations, imagery and feelings associated with the topics discussed or those that arise from simple exercises. You'll learn to notice and allow safety at the level of sensation. This creates more space to feel and release the body’s fight/flight/freeze reactions safely and gradually.
Your strengths, passions, and relationships guide the process. Recover choice and dignity in the face of triggers, uncomfortable physical sensations and hard to break patterns. You deserve to feel more present, more resourceful, more assertive and able to feel the full range of your emotions.
