This is what you thought therapy was supposed to be like. I have nearly 30 years’ experience in dozens of settings and several states, but your story will always be unique to me. I specialize in child/parent relationships, anxiety and depression, substance abuse, trauma work, self harm behaviors, and I have training in CBT and DBT. More recently, I was fully trained in EMDR, and am a Level 2 EMDR practitioner, and am working toward full certification. I have already seen the significant impact that EMDR can have for so many of my clients.
My clients can expect me to collaborate with them to create a safe and comforting space. I am trauma and attachment oriented, and deeply understand dissociation, sensory processing, and pacing. I enjoy exploring naturopathic solutions for patients who are interested, I am well connected to other healers in the community and often work collaboratively.
In this work, being trauma competent is essential. We no longer think of trauma as only war survivors or near death experiences. We now know that trauma is varied and can be broad, complex, or accumulated over time. We also are much more alert to the ways that we store trauma symptoms in our bodies.
