Emotional pain, fear, and problems in life can propel someone into therapy. Distress can feel deep-rooted, and in actuality, often does reflect early, 'ancient' issues. I believe that also in our deepest roots, we may tap into powers of resilience and of amazing, unique selfhood that nourish us in development toward our human potentialities. In courageous exploration of, and work through life's challenges, we can find, and bring to light, marvelous, hard-won gifts of self-actualization, and well-being.
Approaches that we may use are tailored to a person's goals, and needs. In depth work, it is often helpful to explore one's key early relationships.Through dreamwork we may access the psyche's unconscious gifts and develop healing insights. Mindfulness practice may help increase one's tolerance for difficult feelings,
I received an MA in Psychology from Antioch University. Before this, I earned BA degrees in International Studies, and Japanese from the University of Washington. Worldwide perspectives inform my understanding of human psychology. I have experience in working with diverse clients facing chronic mental health, and socio-economic challenges.
