My approach integrates person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), & Solution-Focused Therapy.
Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, past traumatic experiences, and currently feeling stuck in life? Do you need help managing these emotions to move forward in a more meaningful and productive life? Your goals would be to process these emotions and learn how your thoughts influence your feelings and, ultimately, your behavior. Additionally, you will learn coping skills to manage and/or reduce the debilitating effects of these emotions.

Seeking help is a sign of strength and health, not weakness or shame. You have a story and it matters. As an experienced mental health therapist, I feel honored to listen to your story and work together toward change and healing. My style is very warm, supportive, emotions-focused and collaborative. I place the utmost importance on developing a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. Most often I work with individuals affected by issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, identity/self-esteem, attachment and relationship issues. I also help clients with other challenges including grief, self-harm, and chronic health issues.

Evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) inform the psychotherapy I provide to clients.
I specialize in treating chronic pain and chronic illness. When working with clients with chronic pain and/or chronic illness, I focus on the concept of functional restoration. This means helping clients get back to doing the things that are most important to them and spending time with their loved ones. I use techniques that include activity pacing, relaxation exercises, hypnosis for pain control, and values clarification to help clients create a new and fulfilling life for themselves, even in the midst of pain and illness. I work collaboratively with clients to develop healthier coping strategies, and provide candid feedback.

I have found that working from a Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) perspective and theory can help you accept certain things that have happened, and will happen in your life, while also working towards making changes that can lead you to your best self.
Whether there is unhappiness in your life, troubles in your relationships with others, distressing symptoms or perhaps you have encountered a painful experience, are coping with feeling overwhelmed by stress, or going through a difficult transition - it helps to not work through it alone. There is very little that happens to us in life from which we cannot recover and rebuild. Therapy is one way to do so.

I've worked with people of all ages and use a mix of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), reality therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Life has a way of throwing us curveballs, and it can be quite the rollercoaster. Sometimes, it's downright overwhelming and even a bit scary. But taking this first step to acknowledge that you are hurting or in need of support, well, that's courageous. In a world where seeking help isn't always easy, the welcoming and friendly ear I have to offer may be the support you are looking for. I am passionate about validating your experiences, encouraging you to open up, and helping challenge the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that might be holding you back.

Hi! I'm Diane, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I have experience working alongside individuals with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, & adjustment concerns. I believe one of my greatest strengths is building rapport to determine how to best be present for you, through empathy and active listening, in a judgment free space, and walk with you on this journey. Counseling is not a 'one size fits all' endeavor and I will spend time getting to know you to determine what best fits you as an individual.

Methods such as EMDR, DBT, somatic experiencing, internal family systems, and sensorimotor psychotherapy focus on stabalizing your current symptoms by creating safety in your body and buliding an understanding of how present day symptoms have a root in the past.
Trauma impacts us all differently. You may find yourself struggling to find your sense of self, losing your footing in relationships, find difficulty getting through daily activities, feel withdrawn, isolated, anxious or depressed. All of this might happen despite successes or strengths in your life and efforts. Just because it is that way now, it doesn’t mean it has to be or that it will be this way forever. There are a variety of trauma informed practices that we can cater to your unique experiences and goals. Trauma therapy does not have to be a re-exposure to painful memories for you to heal and move on.

You will learn to manage uncomfortable feelings using strategies from CBT, DBT, and ACT.
Life is never the same after the loss of a loved one; it rattles you to your core. You struggle to regain your balance and grapple with the incomparable pain you feel. You don’t know how to carry on now that your beloved family member, spouse, friend, or pet is gone. They were such a meaningful part of your life and made you so happy. Now, their absence feels like a piece of you has been ripped away. You’re so disoriented from the loss that you keep thinking to yourself, “This isn’t real. They can’t be gone.”

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
