For each of my clients, I weave together behavioral (DBT, CBT, ACT) and somatic (Gestalt, Somatic Experiencing) approaches to shape the work specifically to you.
<- New sessions available mornings & evenings - New couples welcome -> Are you living with challenging routines like having the same fight over and over or the same negative thoughts about yourself each morning? Often, these painful patterns actually came out of an initial attempt to help care for yourself. My goal is to support you to explore how these patterns influence your life today and then to continue the ones that serve you and to change the ones that don’t. I support you to build new boundaries, to quiet shame and to invent new narratives of possibility to achieve the growth you're looking for.

I incorporate mindfulness, somatic interventions, DBT, and where appropriate, coaching.
I believe change happens in relationship and that everyone has the potential to heal. I have built my practice working primarily with young adults/adults who wish to engage in a longer term therapeutic alliance with the goal of gaining insight into relational patterns in order to achieve more satisfying relationships at home and work. My style is relational. When working with adolescents and young adults, I make an effort to include parents and caregivers in the treatment process by providing psycho-education, family sessions as needed, as well as appropriate referrals for family members.

Hello, there! What I already know about you is: You are deserving of less burden. In therapy, people are able to develop insights and action plans that transform their capacity to manage the turbulence of life. Together, let's work on your relationship with yourself and the challenges you are facing. Let’s manage your inner critic, sadness/loss, and unhelpful habits. And, equally, let’s identify your strengths and resiliencies that might have gotten lost in the shuffle. I work within a relational, collaborative framework informed by CBT, DBT, & am strength based.

While psychodynamic in nature, I utilize behavioral therapies (ACT and DBT) to help a person feel heard and continue to grow.
Life can be difficult--sometimes, unnecessarily hard. People do their best to cope with challenges, but often these coping strategies are destructive, hindering our emotional health and interpersonal relations. I specialize in depression, relationship issues, anxiety, and substance and behavioral addictions. Ideally, I can help you find your true self, and through this journey you can begin to discover what you truly deserve in life.

My background includes a range of influences and mindfulness-based models including ACT, DBT, IFS, and Narrative Therapy.
We all have a story to tell and we are all driven to make meaning of our lives. Much of our suffering—those times of depression, anxiety, and discontent—arises when the weight of the past and the pressures of the present become overwhelming and we lose our sense of being the author of our own story. I have found that when we are allowed to speak in a compassionate space, to be heard, and to welcome our true selves—even the parts of ourselves that we struggle with—we uncover strengths we didn't know we had. We discover possibilities for change and new relationships, and freedom from old and limiting beliefs. We regain our storyline.

I believe the therapist's role is to be authentic and compassionate, as well as an active participant in helping you to overcome whatever concern brings you to therapy. In addition to listening to what you are struggling with in the moment, I try to help you find ways to manage the distress and more fully engage in your life. I use a combination of traditional talk therapy and skill-building, primarily drawing from CBT, DBT, and ACT.

My therapeutic framework integrates Acceptance Commitment & Dialectical Behavioral Therapies; Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Insight Dialogue, philosophy, 12 Step Principles & art.
My goal is to help you live and act with integrity, increasing ability to respond - while maintaining compassion for the changes that take support, time & practice. My experience lends itself to those touched by abandonment, childhood traumas & addiction - be it those trying to recover from addictions themselves, or those affected by another's. I do not believe in 'fixing' people, but rather dismantling the myths of being broken. Experience shows that our greatest challenges are often unsprouted seeds to the most potent strengths. Our task is to usher that growth.

I also have expertise in mindfulness-based behavioral therapies, including DBT/ACT.
I am a psychologist with over twenty-five years of experience who specializes in helping people who identify as highly sensitive or anxious. You may have received feedback from others that your feelings are “wrong” or “too much.” Such messages frequently result in experiencing harsh self-criticism and shame. I help my clients embrace the many gifts of being sensitive while also navigating a world that often feels harsh and invalidating. I work with adults of diverse ages and backgrounds, providing a warm, connecting, and honest space for you to access your essential strengths and overcome barriers to living a rich, meaningful life.

My training is in psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR.
Social and political distress are causing fear and alienation, along with feelings of disempowerment and personal inadequacy with less community for us to count on. My way of working with this is to help clients become more aware of their own internal wisdom and connection to all things. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relational difficulties or just feeling overwhelmed. Listening to your story and using Somatic Experiencing, a mind/body approach, I work to help you find your sense of balance, curiosity, resilience, engagement, and vitality.

With training in behavioral (CBT, DBT) and psychodynamic therapies, I aim to collaborate with clients to establish and achieve goals through introspection and skill building.
Starting therapy can be a difficult step, and you may not know where to start. My goal is to determine that together and support a path of self-understanding and positive change. I enjoy working with adults of all backgrounds and identities dealing with anxiety, depression, identity development, relationship issues, adjustment, grief, and trauma. I also specialize in health psychology with a particular interest in women’s health. Through a warm, curious, and sometimes humorous approach, I strive to make genuine connections to understand client’s needs, hopes, and fears with the goal of self-awareness and transformation.

With a relational-cultural foundation, I draw on techniques from interpersonal, narrative, insight, and dialectical behavioral therapies.
Life can be hard – it brings us times of feeling alone, scared, sad, ashamed, and uncertain. This can hurt our self, our loved ones, and our ability to lead a fulfilling life. Therapy can provide us with more choices and more control when life becomes hard. As a counseling psychologist, I am deeply committed to providing an affirming and compassionate therapy space where you can explore who you are, where your life is, and take steps towards the life you would like to lead.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
