My guiding philosophy is grounded in the principles of Motivational Interviewing (MI), the Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change), and the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology, particularly Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and DBT ( Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR.
I am an optimistic professional who always believes in the best in people. As a mental health counselor, my ambition is to help each individual unlock their full potential and to support parents and teachers in achieving this goal as well. My journey in this beautiful and rewarding field has been marked by numerous successes in helping people identify and transform their thoughts and beliefs. I've had the privilege of guiding others to recognize their automatic thoughts and have effectively implemented behavioral techniques and cognitive modifications. Together, we can create positive and lasting change!

I utilize psychotherapy as a basis to client self-discovery with a combination theoretical approaches such as CBT, DBT, Gestalt Therapy, and more.
I believe we are all unique by design, created to live and enjoy a meaningful life. We each have the capability to write and narrate our own stories, as we navigate our way through our personal gene pool, life circumstances, and the choices we make. Because of my own experiences, I am empathetic, understanding, and want you to feel heard, honored, and validated. Grounded in an existential framework, I embrace a variety of theoretical approaches to help you realize your own purpose, and resolve inner conflict resulting from childhood trauma. I offer a safe, non-judgmental, diverse, and all inclusive environment and all are welcome.

I utilize cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and dialectical behavioral modalities to help you develop a routine of self-nurturing and healing.
Are you a "people pleaser"? Are you feeling weighed down by life? Does it feel like you are stuck, when everyone else has it figured out? Are you tired of giving to others, leaving nothing for yourself? If this feels familiar and you are ready to get to the bottom of what has gotten you here, know that help is here. I work with clients to work through what's hurting, develop strength in the face of life's stressors, and build a life that feels right for them.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
