Hello, my name is Derek Scott Hoxby, LMFT, CADC-II, MFC LIC 49029 CADC-II A4110710 I have an extensive background in addiction treatment: alcohol, drugs, sex, and porn. I utilize CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, solution-focused, and the John Gottman strategies. Clients learn that thoughts create feelings, mood then affect. With couples and families, my job is to provide a safe place where effective communication can develop, listening, and most importantly the ability to respond to each other rather than react/ conflict resolution. I treat compulsive sexual behaviors, chemical dependency, anger management & PTSD.
I have experience working with adolescents:13-17 yrs, Adults: 18-100 yrs Families, Couples, LGBTQ, and TRANS.
In the initial few sessions, I will gather information to get a sense of the issues the client reports and a history of their lives to the present time of the session by asking them what they want to achieve in therapy. What expectations do they have of the therapeutic process
