Experiences such as overwhelm, helplessness, over-thinking things, over-reacting in situations, relationship strain, mentally beating yourself up, or physical symptoms like recurrent headaches, stomachaches, or a rundown immune system are often signs that we are cut off from our highest self, the healthiest version of ourself. Trauma, in its many forms, can do this to us. It can hijack our nervous system so we respond to life in ways that do not support mental or physical wellbeing for us or our relationships. I want to help you heal and take back control of your life.
An empathetic counselor can make all the difference in your ability to change behaviors. I use process-oriented, somatically focused EMDR (a trauma treatment) to help my client's nervous system heal and then respond differently (less reactively) to life and old triggers. I help clients with single event trauma, and/or childhood or adult relational trauma.
I am integrative and holistic in my approach to therapy. I combine EMDR with other traditions such as yoga, nutrition, and spirituality for a comprehensive and mindful approach to treatment.
