Throughout my education, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients in various settings. I have done a lot of work in an educational setting, specifically on college campuses, with students and young adults. I have also had the opportunity to work in a nonprofit providing free counseling to a wide range of clients from ages 20 - 50 years old experiencing anxiety, depression, life changes and transitions, PTSD and trauma-related struggles. Over the course of my clinical experiences, I also gathered a great amount of experience pertaining to student, women’s, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
In doing this work, I have had extensive experience in motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) therapy, with some techniques borrowed from Cognitive Processing (CPT) therapy and strengths-based therapeutic interventions.
While I absolutely take this work and the experiences, thoughts, emotions, etc. that clients bring in extremely seriously, I do attempt to create a sense of light-heartedness and weave humor into sessions when appropriate as a way to utilize aspects of my own personality and build this rapport with my clients.
