Hello, my name is Declan Murphy. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe a key goal of therapy and most therapy sessions is integration. By making contact with emotions and thoughts, then keeping what is useful and letting go of the rest, I hope to help people integrate new experiences or past challenges.
I often use Gestalt therapy which looks to expand awareness, restore people to wholeness, and integrate experiences. CBT is used to challenge thoughts and observe patterns that are getting in the way. DBT can be useful to improve self-soothing and avoid emotional pitfalls.
I remember being riveted by any movie scene that had therapy. I noticed I became very interested in any class that touched on the topic of therapy or mental health. After giving it some careful thought and gaining experience helping others through life challenges, I pursued the education to become a therapist and have thoroughly enjoyed the work.
