Hi, my name is Debbie Kirkwood, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. Having been in the mental health field for over 20 years, I have worked with many people of every age group and from various backgrounds and cultures. My focuses are Anxiety, Job Stress, Life Coaching, Stress, and Relationship Issues. I use Coaching, Person-Centered, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Supportive. I believe in meeting the client where they are and not where I want them to be.
I will be committed to helping you, which often includes using humor to ease the process and to help facilitate an element of trust between us. I am not one of those therapists who will sit back and nod and grunt but will use my skills to challenge you to be your best self. Having directions and knowing that you are making progress is essential.
In the initial session, the client should expect some information gathering and a brief description of the presenting problem. Additionally, it is an opportunity for me to get to know you better.
