We all want to create lives that are joyful, deeply satisfying, and connected to others. Yet no one goes through this world unscathed by the difficult people, circumstances, and experiences we all encounter along the way. To survive, we generally organize our lives around 2 things – how we manage our pain and how we manage our relationships. And sometimes those survival strategies, intended at one point to protect us, end up keeping us from the very things we long for. Or we feel stuck or overwhelmed by events, and are not sure how to navigate our inner, emotional, or relational worlds alone.
As a therapist and trauma specialist, part of what I do is help individuals and couples create a safe space to slow down what is happening inside or between them, name it properly, and break things down into manageable bites. Then we can find practical ways to heal, grow, and more fully become who we want to be.
Clients describe my presence as settled and reassuring, with an ability to quickly bring calm and clarity to complex or intense situations. I have a tender spot for those dealing with a broken heart, a dark night of the soul, cross-cultural/ministry stress, mid-life issues, or the unique challenges of those in the helping professions.
