Do you often feel weighed down by feelings of anxiety? If you find it difficult to make friends and experience loneliness regularly, as a result, come talk to me. Do you feel like you spend more time taking care of others than yourself? As a child did you experienced the painful effects of abuse, neglect, and trauma? Do you feel sad or feel that you have no energy or enough oomph? Do you want to feel better and learn new ways to manage your emotions effectively? Do you desire to learn how to be more consistent with your mood? Do you believe that you could be happier? Are you ready to live better?

We are more than our problems, even though sometimes it can feel like that is all we are. At times, it can even be hard to remember that on our own. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety/depression, trauma or victimization, addiction or stress, I’m here to work with you to prepare a plan using your strengths, your ideas, and your goals. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that the best place to meet my clients is where they are from a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental place. My approach is tailored to fit my client’s individual needs + goals so that together, we can understand where to start to help you make effective change.

I have worked with children, men, women, couples, and families in the areas of trauma, marital issues, men issues, sexual abuse, addictions, depression, anxiety, and family conflict.
Your mental health is very important. Whether you are in the midst of a crisis, feeling overwhelmed, or stuck in the same pattern of hurts, habits, and hang ups - I can help. Change is possible. You don't have to go through it alone not knowing what to do. I work with individuals and also with couples. When it comes to relationships the reality is that they take work, but sometimes we don't know what work needs to be done, or how to do it in a way that strengthens the connections between each partner. That's where I come in.

At Willow Counseling Services, we understand the profound impact that fertility, perinatal, and women's health challenges can have on the fabric of everyday lives. We acknowledge that the journey through these experiences is anything but simple, and the well-meaning yet inadequate advice to 'just relax' fails to address the intricate emotional and psychological complexities that often arise. We're thrilled to announce an expansion of our services beyond perinatal mental health and women's health. We now include expertise in managing generalized anxiety, depression, OCD, Adult ADHD, eating disorders, and trauma-related stressors.

You’re getting ready to make changes and share personal stuff. Having the right person helping is super important. Maybe memories of past mistakes or trauma have you feeling down. Worries about the future occupy your thoughts. Maybe you don’t feel settled and can’t stop thinking. Habits like isolating, acting like you're ok, using substances, or avoiding talking about things have taken over. Maybe you’re beating yourself up for procrastinating. Is it hard to stop doing the things you don’t’ want to do and start doing the things you want to do? Feeling stuck? Not sure how to start? I can help sort things out and get on track.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
