My practice includes listening from a psychodynamic perspective (understanding family and intergenerational dynamics) , focusing on the here and now through somatic and mindfulness techniques, developing a person's intuition, and understanding how a person relates to people in their life through the therapeutic relationship.
It is brave to choose how you want to craft your life. Many people are struggling through big life transitions, are unhappy in their relationships, or they want to move past anxiety and depression. Therapy is a place to understand what is happening now, and how to create something different and better to feel more satisfied. If this is you, I offer a space to look at and understand what is happening in your life, and how you can regain a sense of agency to create what you want. I am warm and engaging, and together we find patterns in your life that keep showing up and getting in your way. We look at how to cultivate what you want.

I have received additional training in trauma/PTSD, yoga, mindfulness, and somatic therapies that highlight the mind/body connection.
Moving through the ups and downs of life can be challenging. You might feel uncertain about who you are or where you are going. You might feel lonely or misunderstood. Maybe you feel stuck trying to move past painful experiences. Let’s work together to create a path toward healing, growth, and self-acceptance. I recognize how difficult it can be to find a therapist who gets it. I warmly welcome people from the queer community, black people, and people of color to contact me for services. Whether you are exploring your identity, navigating relationships, or feeling isolated.

Embarking on a therapeutic journey requires courage, and I commend you for taking this step in service toward your growth and healing. My approach as a mindfulness-based Intern Therapist is grounded in a holistic philosophy and oriented in Gestalt and Person-Centered therapies. My work lies in the gap between traditional psychotherapy and spiritual transformation. I aim to bridge the conceptual foundations underpinning the divide between psychology and spirituality by synthesizing authentic whole-person contact with contemplative practices, somatic psychotherapies, and scientifically proven mindfulness-based modalities.

In addition to being formally trained in Internal Family System (IFS) Therapy by completing levels 1, 2, and 3, I have advanced training in somatic modalities such as Focusing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Levels 1 & 2).
I am an affirming, trauma-trained therapist who believes in the capacity for healing in a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic space. As a result of our co-created safe space and relationship, you will experience increased resiliency, less reactive behaviors, emotional balance, self-compassion, and an enhanced connection with your internal energy. If you feel overwhelmed by emotions that you consider unhelpful, or if you are feeling hopeless, unsure of what is next, fearful, ashamed, or unable to enjoy life despite being supported and loved by others, therapy might be an ideal opportunity to liberate some of those burdens.

In my practice, I incorporate training in grief and trauma-focused therapies, mindfulness and somatic techniques, and relational psychodynamic approaches.
Loss is the universal human condition. At times, all of us move with a sense of "lostness" - be it around a death, a relationship, our sense of safety, hopes for the future. Yet as a culture, we have a hard time being with loss and accompanying grief. I believe that loss and grief deserve attention. You may know exactly why you are seeking therapy, or you may something may just feel off. My role is to help you learn about yourself and your losses. I hold special interest and skill supporting people with experiences of infertility/pregnancy loss, relationship loss, trauma, and death and dying.

I utilize mind-body based modalities, such as EMDR, polyvagal theory, and somatic therapy to invite your whole self into the healing process.
Is your past preventing you from experiencing a joyful and fulfilling life? Have you tried talk therapy and found that words simply aren't enough or that trying to change your thinking alone has not brought you the healing and transformation you seek? It could be that trauma is keeping you stuck. I specialize in treating adults who feel held back and weighed down by trauma, helping them to resolve traumatic experiences that are often at the root of depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders.

I use a bottom-up approach starting with somatic experiencing (how we feel in our bodies) building up to cognitive restructuring (reframing maladaptive thoughts).
There are many misconceptions about what it means to be in therapy. Anyone can benefit from therapy regardless of what walk of life they come from. It does not mean that you are broken, weak or crazy. What it does mean is that you are up for the challenge of confronting harmful beliefs, habits, and communication styles so that you can live a life that is authentically yours. Sitting across from this screen right now takes courage and vulnerability. Our mental health shows itself in all areas of our lives: relationships, perception, management of daily life, sense of self, and our ability connect to our emotions and body.

In addition to psychodynamically oriented talk therapy, I integrate mindfulness, trauma informed approaches, somatic imagery, and EMDR, all depending on your individual needs.
There are times that you might feel stuck in patterns that make life feel unsatisfying and empty. Maybe you feel depressed, anxious or in chronic pain. You may be negotiating a relationship or trying to adjust to a new job. Psychotherapy allows you the space to understand how your past and present intersect and what gets in the way of living life to your fullest while also helping you to tap into your inner resources. My approach is collaborative, thus giving you the space to reflect carefully. I work with you to develop better coping skills and help you to understand & manage complex feelings of anxiety or sadness.

I also use Somatic Experiencing (SE) to support integration of insight and change.
Being in distress and discomfort is hard, tiring, and sometimes discouraging. "I'm struggling with something, but what can I do about it?" "Why is it so easy for everyone else?" "I just want out of my head, and back into my life." I believe successful therapy is a collaborative effort that helps you build a real, authentic, and happy life. Therapy can be helpful when sensitive topics and difficult challenges feel intimidating and overwhelming. As your therapist, I will listen to and learn about your challenges. We'll find a pace that works for you and I'll help you keep your goals in focus.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
