In my daily life and professional work I strive to be body positive, antiracist, anti-ableist, lgbtqia+ affirming, and neurodiversity affirming.
Psychological evaluations are my area of expertise and passion. My goal when conducting assessments is to identify an individual’s areas of strength and weakness in order to provide recommendations for treatment, work and/or school, interpersonal relationships, and daily living. In the context of assessments, I can provide diagnoses and second opinions. A diagnosis is only one aspect of the process, however, and I emphasize understanding underlying cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal processes, and how these combine and manifest in daily life.

I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, and am LGBTQ affirming.
You notice patterns in your life that you want to better understand and change. These patterns show up in relationships, your own stress and struggles, and other areas in which you feel stuck. You want to be able to live your life in a way that feels true to who you are and how you want to show up in your relationships and in the world.

In my work with sexual concerns I often support persons w/ nonconforming relationship structures and welcome those who identify as kinky, queer, & trans.
Are you a child of a dysfunctional family, see yourself playing roles of a caretaker, people pleaser, fawner or avoidant of conflict? Do you wonder how these roles began? Perhaps you recognize their origin but feel uncertain how to step outside of these roles that feel inauthentic. Do you ever think to yourself, “I don’t feel like I know my ‘true self’”? You may desire to show up differently but not sure where or how to begin. I assure you; these questions and thoughts make complete sense to me, and I am here to work alongside you as we walk the path towards discovering your inner wisdom, truth and power to heal your past wounds.

I am LGBTQ+ and poly-friendly, have experience in anti-trafficking and cross-cultural work and conducted research on discrimination among Arab- and Muslim-Americans in the US.
I believe in our innate power to heal and grow from difficult life experiences. Whether you've experienced a trauma recently or many years ago, these experiences may continue to impact you in the present: physically, emotionally, psychologically and relationally. I offer a gentle, collaborative and affirming space to access and work through past events, however they show up, as well as for self-exploration and personal growth. I pay attention to the ways in which issues of identity (race, class, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ability, size, etc.) may impact your experience. I am licensed in DC, CT, SC, DE.

These feelings may be affecting your work, relationships, or health. I have worked with many individuals and couples who struggle with creating change long term. Whether you've tried therapy before or this is your first time, deciding to step outside your comfort zone and try something different is the first step to a more fulfilling life.

I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are neurodivergent and queer, aiming to enhance their quality of life and relationships.
Are you navigating the intersection of being queer and neurodivergent in a world that doesn’t seem to have been built for you? Learning to love all the parts of yourself is so much more challenging when you’re surrounded by systems and structures that aren’t affirming or flexible. Many of us in these communities navigate issues such as sensory sensitivity, relationship struggles, chronic dysregulation, and executive dysfunction. As a queer neurodivergent person, I understand the complexities and unique challenges you may face. Compassion is at the center of my approach.

I specialize in adult psychotherapy, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, substance use, trauma, relationships, and LGBTQ issues. It can be hard to experience hope when we feel stuck in old patterns of thinking and feeling about life, ourselves, and our relationships. This can lead to feelings of stress, confusion, unhappiness, or disappointment. I work to help individuals and couples to examine these patterns and to explore and experiment with new ways of thinking and acting, which in turn can have dramatic impact on how they are feeling.

We have learned to survive by appearing strong, stoic, fearless and unshaken in the face of pervasive pain, trauma and suffering. We have also learned to care for a world that has been historically unkind in return. I provide a safe and empowering space for BIPOC women and femmes to be radically vulnerable and authentic without judgment as we exist outside of the confines of these expectations and our roles as caretakers, professionals or both. I am committed to ensuring that you receive the compassionate, culturally sensitive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma-informed care that you deserve as you embrace a lifestyle of wellness.

I am currently serving two underserved populations, the African-American and LGBT communities.
I believe that one of the ways in which self-awareness is achieved is through the sharing of one's story. Therefore, I strive diligently to create a safe space for one to share both the beauty and the brokenness of one's story with authenticity, genuineness, and integrity. When appropriate, I infuse spirituality and religion into my therapeutic practice; thus enabling my clients to articulate their feelings of dis-ease within the context of their faith. I have found this approach to be particularly effective in working with populations marginalized because of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
