Craig is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT prolonged Exposure, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), the Gottman Method and offers parent coaching for parents with anxious children.
Clients can experience a life situation or a series of life situations that cause some level of unwanted emotional arousal (sadness, hurt, pain, fear, anxiety) and as a result of the intensity, increases an urge to do a behavior they consider ineffective (self harm, suicidal behavior, isolate, withdrawal, shutdown, verbally/physically aggressive, tantrums, obsessions, compulsions, avoidance, school refusal). They are in need of skills to help them cope with their emotions and problem solve their life situations. Despite the discomfort, they want to be effective, maintain relationships and feel better.

I use a humanistic, psychodynamic, and person-centered approach to counseling that incorporates evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
I passionately believe that long lasting change does not come from a place of self-loathing, fear, or pressure from others, but rather, compassion and acceptance towards ourselves. So many variables can impact the way we view ourselves: trauma, our families & relationships, identities that have been marginalized, sexuality, cultural and societal norms, systemic oppression, neurodivergence, social media, diet-culture, and the list goes on. The culmination of these experiences can weigh us down, preventing us from living a life authentic to our values and aspirations.

I practice Contextually-Focused Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT) which is a combination of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) within the framework of DBT.
Do you feel like you are in a constant battle with your emotions and your thoughts? Do you frequently find yourself in intense emotional distress and feel desperate to find a way out of it? Perhaps you've gotten so entangled in this that you've lost sense of who you are and what you're capable of. I work with individuals who are stuck in a cycle avoiding and escaping their distress in ways that provide short term relief but prolong distress and don’t align with their values and/or future goals. I am committed to working with you to practice more effective, value-aligned ways to manage life's inevitable pain and challenges.

My approach draws from my training in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy and family systems therapy.
Discovering your passions, managing change and navigating daily stressors can be difficult. It is particularly difficult, if you are experiencing stress at home or work, struggling with unhealthy behaviors or dealing with unexpected life events. I work collaboratively with clients to determine their treatment goals and explore barriers that prevent them from reaching them. My aim is to help you process change while offering strategies that increase coping skills and challenge behaviors that disrupt your progress.

I use a trauma-informed and integrative approach in therapy, and I incorporate various types of therapy, such as DBT, CBT, and ACT, depending on your needs and preferences.
Therapy can be a helpful way to gain insights, explore, and challenge yourself in a space that is free of judgment. I aim to provide a space where you can feel connected and supported, and where you can develop skills that will help you navigate challenges, thrive, and create meaningful change. I value learning about each client’s background and lived experience, and use a warm, active, and collaborative approach in therapy. If you are seeking couples therapy, our sessions can help you build concrete skills to improve communication, while also having the space to process the past and work towards the future.

While my approach varies from person to person, I have specific training in several modalities including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma (CPT), exposure-based therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
There are many reasons why people make the choice to seek out therapy. Sometimes that reason isn't obvious and you might just feel "off", or maybe you've recognized patterns in your life that you'd like to interrupt but aren't quite sure how. Whatever your reason is, it is valid and important, and I would be honored to work through it with you. My experience thus far has centered around helping adolescents and adults navigate eating disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, body image distress, relationship issues, healthy masculinity development, and emotion regulation, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
