I believe people are fundamentally resilient. Our histories and life experiences shape us, change us and require us to adapt. But in the face of rising sociopolitical tensions, climate anxiety and financial uncertainty, even the healthiest among us can struggle to cope.

As a clinician, I am focused on helping clients find a life of meaning and value. Often times in our pain there is incredibly useful information about what is important to us. As humans, we have evolved to move away from physical pain, to escape it: and for most types of pain, those methods work! But for emotional pain, avoidance not only doesn’t get rid of our pain and suffering, it often amplifies it. In discovering how each individual client finds meaning in their lives, we ground ourselves in the willingness to walk toward our pain, rather than away from it. It is in this space that we find healing and meaningful change.

Choosing to enter therapy can be a difficult decision, but finding and connecting with the right therapist will play a significant role in the healing process. I believe this healing is achieved through an authentic and collaborative therapist-client relationship and by providing a supportive and nonjudgmental environment in which clients feel safe to explore difficult issues. There are myriad reasons people enter therapy: for problems that have a direct correlation to a cause or for problems that are imprecise, but impact their quality of life.

Choosing a therapist can be a daunting task, often undertaken at a time when one is feeling less than powerful. I offer a free phone consultation to potential clients, during which we'll get to know a little bit about each other, and I can answer any questions about the therapeutic process, including scheduling and fees. In my practice, I make use of a variety of theoretical frameworks to help understand and address your symptoms. I employ elements of cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, psychodynamic, art and music therapies, but my focus is always on you as a whole person, understood in the context of your environment.
