Our uncertain times has likely increased stress and the “What if’s” into your or a loved one’s life. The constant change and uncertainty can foster stress and other emotional reactions. This may look/feel like feeling isolated, frightful, irritable, outraged, sad, guilt or even exhibiting maladaptive behaviors (e.g., substance use, risky behaviors, eating habits, sleeping habits, etc.). While there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, having a harm-reduction approach, focusing more on what we can control and less on what we can’t, decreasing stress, reducing your triggers and focusing on our strengths and supports can help.

Adjustments, stress, dis-order, and dis-ease occur throughout our lifetime requiring our attention. My therapeutic style is informed from experience & education, and influenced through holistic (whole person) & clinical systems. Today, our community and personal lives are overwhelmed by chronic stress of information bombardment, employment & financial concerns, safety for ourselves & family, and concerns for community & country. Anxiety is amplified by excessive stress, and those feelings once under control may now need reinforcement. Mental health check-ups reassure perceptions are adaptable, and hope for tomorrow a reality.

Pursuing optimal intimacy improves your mental and physical health. I am an experienced therapist who is direct, affirming and effective in helping couples and individuals 'do what works' in and out of the bedroom. This requires facing and dealing with what holds you back, shuts you down, turns you off and intimidates you--in order to potentially open you up, draw you closer, and strengthen your bonds of authentic love. In our dynamic therapeutic process, you can also learn how to become irresistibly desirable and pursuable (once again)! The lovers' dance is born anew. I work with individuals and couples. Let's connect.

As a client-focused, strength based, brief therapist I believe clients lead the way. It is my privilege to help you move towards your goals through self awareness and skills-based guidance. A person is much more than a diagnosis and at times labels can get in the way. Changes that match who a person is and where they are in their life lead to success. What we create together should be manageable so that "better" continues after our relationship ends.

My clinical focus is children and teens in their families. My work with families is through an attachment lens. With the goal of helping families grow in relationship with each other so that emotions can be experienced in a new, meaningful and healing way. I help caregivers shift their perspective on their child's tantrums, meltdowns, and testing/defiant behaviors to grow the caregiver/child relationship to a secure and safe training ground. The child will learn to trust their emotions and through this practice grow into teens and adults who can set boundaries, trust their gut and take healthy risks as their sense of self grows.

Psychology works because it is a way to help people understand their problems and correct or change so that they can live more healthy or satisfying lives. Many people come for therapy if they are experiencing problems with depression, anxiety or relationship issues. Some other common problems that I help treat are problems with work injuries, sleep, weight, stress, trauma, and sexual problems. These problems can be greatly helped through therapy. I employ an eclectic approach to therapy, meeting each individual’s needs rather than using one form of treatment.

I enjoy collaborating and exploring solutions with adults who are adjusting to parenthood and other lifespan transitions. Your cultural experience, personal strengths and therapeutic goals are used to create the change you want to see. Parenting is one example of a lifespan transition where your identity, self care routine, personal expectations, and relational dynamics can be tested and challenging. Psychotherapy can help validate and support the adjustment to a new normal providing you the skills and strategies necessary for overcoming issues, developing fresh insight, and flourishing with a new sense of meaning and purpose.

Are you heartbroken? Anxious? Angry? All of the above and more? You are welcome here. You may have a relationship that is falling apart or make the same bad decisions again and again. You may be overwhelmed by an overly critical mind that says you are undeserving, less than, or too much. Perhaps you take care of others and forget to take care of yourself. You long for companionship and have a deep desire to matter, to belong, and to be respected.

These can include those who have experienced trauma; or, someone who is Neurodiverse and is attempting to navigate their life and understand who they are in this world. Sometimes the depression and anxiety are absolutely crippling, to the point where it feels like there is just no way out. Or, you may be a parent with a child who is just struggling and you feel like you have tried everything possible, to help and understand your child but it seems like nothing has worked.

Accepting new clients. I'm a Christian counselor. My specialty is working with women who have survived childhood trauma and/ or intimate partner abuse and are ready to live with more choice through clearing trauma, working through grief, forgiveness, anger, and shame. These often present as different or varying forms of depression and anxiety. I have taught groups on healthy relationships, practicing boundaries, and assertiveness skills. I also have a particular interest in how nutrition, sleep, and rhythms of how we care for ourselves impacts mental health.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Everett?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
