Eating disorders have the highest mortality of all psychiatric diagnoses. I'm a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist. You aren't sick because you want to be (see Neurobiology.) The change we need to live healthy can seem more difficult than the pain. The emptiness of escapism, whether through restriction, drugs, alcohol, food, etc. obscures your potential. If it's not dangerous, you don't have to run. When you practice avoidance, you also avoid experiences producing self-trust, self-confidence and self-esteem. If you want to practice bravery, I'm here. I teach skills and assign homework. I'm willing to work as hard as you are.
I also specialize in treating caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. While I once worked directly with patients living in long-term care, research has indicated patients with dementia benefit more when their caregivers receive adequate treatment and training. I know it's a very long 36-Hour Day. It's easier when you take time for you.
Via full time telehealth, my clients enjoy the freedom to choose when, where and how they receive services. With the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology, I can practice in 35 states (see PSYPACT.org.) We can Zoom, FaceTime, or just talk while we both walk.
