We can all get trapped in a way of thinking or relating to the world that does not serve our end goals. I work with clients to help them become aware of these patterns, understand their origin and utility, while at the same time fostering the freedom, perspective, and skills to break away from these patterns when needed. I view therapy as a co-investigative process, where you and I can look together, with neutrality, curiosity and compassion, at the forces that are shaping your emotional life, and see if there might be a different way of experiencing the world.
I use a combination of insight oriented and behavioral treatment - encouraging acceptance, cultivating mindfulness, and teaching concrete skills that can be used to change painful or destructive patterns in a person's life and relationships. The result is increased wisdom, presence, and freedom to make healthier and effective choices.
I work with kids, teenagers, parents, couples and families. I have an integral approach, combining interpersonal therapy, family systems, IFS, and DBT. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, family conflict, self-harm, impulsivity, and grief. I offer DBT skills training for individuals and families.
