Aloha, my name is Dana Lucio. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 5 years of therapeutic experience in Hawaii. I am passionate about therapy and I typically alter my clinical approach based on individual needs. I do find additional passion in working with substance abuse, trauma, and emotional regulation. I have a wide range of experience working with diverse ages and diagnoses. I have extended experience working with younger adults (14-24), working with substance use challenges, trauma, and anger management.
As a clinician, I pride myself in getting to know my clients and their needs. I generally develop rapport with clients by utilizing a client-centered approach. By doing do, everyone feels safe, heard, and comfortable. Some common theoretical approaches that I like to use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Informed Care.
With every client, I adjust my approach to match their needs. My goal is to create a safe space that allows each client to open up entirely with hopes to address their needs/goals. I am an active listener, I provide clinical feedback, and conduct check-ins to ensure proper understanding of individual needs.
