I’m about to retire. Not taking new clients. Thank you! We know that we pass down our hair color and eye color from generation to generation. We even know that we pass down risk for heart disease, cancer and even addiction. What we don't realize is that we also pass down risk for affairs, partner abuse, and child abuse. When we hide these things in shame, we create a culture of secrets, lies, and BS. I believe we can break these repeating, dysfunctional patterns patterns in our own lives and in our family's lives, and that we can help our children not to repeat them unintentionally.
By examining and talking about the trauma, abuse, addiction, and other forms of grief, loss, and woundedness in our lives--and in the lives of our spouses and families--we bring them into the light of truth, and their power over us and our children and families begins to diminish.
